This is a topic of the essay I'm supposed to write. I've decided to create a debate on this on here also

Answer the following questions and debate.

1. Do prisoners held at Guantanamo Bay (Gitmo) deserve the same due process rights as American citizens? If so, which ones? If not, why?

2. Do interrogation techniques used at Gitmo violate the 8th amendment? Why or why not?

I've decided to take the position that they do deserve the same due process rights. The interrogation techniques used do violate the 8th amendment. I mean, I know they aren't US citizens, but I feel it's just not right to do that. I know that's not enough explanation, but I still need to do research and stuff so bear with me.

1. Do prisoners held at Guantanamo Bay (Gitmo) deserve the same due process rights as American citizens? If so, which ones? If not, why? Sure.

2. Do interrogation techniques used at Gitmo violate the 8th amendment? Why or why not? Lol, it's not just a violation of the eighth amendment.

I mean a wikileak revealed not too long ago that over one hundred and fifty people in Guantanamo Bay were completely innocent and just locked up for stupid suspiciousness. I wouldn't be surprised if there's more.

Kidnapping innocent people while knowing they're innocent than locking them in some fucking nightmare is in no way American. JUST KIDDING! America is totally that. Expect the unexpected from the USA.

so you agree with using torture when interrogating them?? even if they aren't US citizens they shouldn't be tortured.

its a sticky issue as you have said, but i think that if the person is guilty, then they have/planned to kill or commit terrorism, therefore they have removed/planned to remove other peoples rights, rendering their own invalid.

sorry if i have not fully understood, im not sure on american politics and can only judge on what i have heard of guantanamo

Look at it this way, if you knew that there was going to be a terrorist attack someplace, how else are you going to get answers out of someone...you cant be like...oh please tell me where the bomb is, I'll give you an ice cream sundae...Im not saying torture is right, but in some cases its a necessary evil
