So basically, on the school computers that use IE8, i have a button on the top right hand side of the formating panel that removes the formatting codes, so if I want it to be green, I just highlight it and change the colour with out the [ COLOR="Lime"] [/COLOR ].
At home I use Google Chrome, and I dont have this function. Is there any settings to change, so that I can have that function?

That is known as What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWIG) editing, similar to what you see in a word processor such as Microsoft Office Word, etc. It can be changed in the UserCP.

Chrome may not fully support the Ajax used for the WYSIWYG editor.
Try updating Chrome if you don't have the latest version, if that doesn't work, try completely uninstalling Chrome, then reinstalling it.

Hm, I use chrome also and WYSIWYG isn't supported. But when I use a vB forum at school (IE) WYSIWYG works just fine. Chrome doesn't support it, yet.

yeah that's the one thing I don't like about Chrome. you can't highlight this sentence and press Ctrl + B to make it bold like to IE.
they better support it soon

The vBulletin 3.8 WYSIWIG editor isn't compatible with webkit browsers (chrome, safari, and Opera). Its not a fault of the browser itself but old outdated vBulletin code. A future forum upgrade would be required to fix this. That said though, vBulletin 4.1 doesn't support it yet either.
