I have this longstanding love affair with best buy. They are the best, most helpful, friendliest business I have ever been to. I was just wondering if anyone else had a good story about best buy, or loved it like myself..

One time I went to best buy with a problem with linux. I knew my computer was past warranty, but it was a simple problem. (firefox was going haywire btw)

I went to the apple section to see if the guy there knew anything. They are both based on UNIX after all.

He didn't know, but referred me to a guy in the cell phone section who had kind of a hobby with it. He could not have been more helpful.

They're alright I guess. I got my latest laptop and a couple games from them. They're generally very friendly and helpful.

However, when a problem arises, they sort of take advantage of that it seems.
Like for example, just recently my brother's laptop charger melted and was broken, so we took it to Best Buy to see if they had a replacement for it. Being the "Tech Support" of the family I immediately found the replacement that we needed, though my mother insisted we go to the Geek Squad counter and get their input. They pretty much persuaded her to spend an unnecessary extra $30 on one of those 3rd-party "All Chargers In One" things.

Sometime's I like them and sometimes I don't.
Though I guess I should be more upset with my mother. >_>

Big Box monopoly store....I buy online and don't really go there, prices are higher and here, not so friendly as they know that they are the only store and has no competition. I preferred COMP USA when they were open here

I've got many horror stories from customers who went there. Such as one that had a dead hard drive....laptop still under warranty. They kept the laptop for 3 weeks, and didn't install the OS. Gave it back to him without recovery CDs. He ended up having to hire me to fix something that should have been covered under the warranty.

I have never had any problems with Best Buy; I pretty much buy everything technology related there, except for hard drives and other stuff over about $100.

Best Buy is a very good store for selling. Not fixing your stuff, though.
