Summer's right around the corner (at least for us in the northern hemisphere).
What do you do if someone notices your scars and asks you about them?
I've never had anyone see the full extent of my scars before, but in later years if someone does I'll probably just tell them I was attacked by vicious naked mole rats. ;D I think it'll add some levity to the situation. Hopefully they'll be too busy laughing (or else realize I don't want to talk about it) to ask again.
When summer comes, do you stop cutting on places like your forearms/ankles/legs and just cut on less visible places like your thighs/stomach, or do you keep wearing long sleeves? Or do you stop cutting in the summer, period?
I'm going to stop cutting on my ankles and start on my stomach. I'll probably keep cutting my wrist because I wear bracelets, so no one will really notice.

Well, I usually wear long sleeves, so most people never notice my scars and cuts. If I do wear short sleeves, at times during summer usually, I wear a bunch of bracelets.
Whenever people do ask, I first usually pretend not to hear them, to avoid talking about it, if they persist, I can come up with some random accident as to why.

During the summer I short sleeves and cut on the outside of my thighs. My arm is just one big scar so no one can tell its scared.

The only people who have ever seen the full extent of my scars are(Well, IS) my boyfriend. He is the only person who has ever seen my upper legs.
When people ask me about my scars I tell them I got abducted by aliens. They laugh and eventually realize I don't want to talk about it.
During the summer I usually stop cutting my arms. That was a fail last summer because it was the beginning of my full arm cutting (I used to barely do it...Like paper cuts, not counting my legs). I'll wear my short sleeves and run around all happy-go-lucky because it's rare for people to notice and SAY ANYTHING about my really really really badly noticable arm scars. But I'm usually wearing one of those over jacket-but-not-a-jacket shirt things that go just below my elbow and cover up the bad ones.
Thankfully, I'm not cutting anymore right now. I'm on a voluntary break and I hope I won't have to worry about it. If I do cut, it will be my legs.

Bracelets are your friend, haha. It's lucky that most people have enough social skills to realize when you don't want to talk about your scars.
Lexi, by 'full arm cutting' do you mean more than just your forearm, or just deeper on your forearm?
And do you mean a flannel shirt? Yeah that's my plan for hiding the scars on my shoulder.
I'm glad you're on a break =] It's best to not cut at all.

No one has ever seen the extent of my scars to date although i showed My doctor them all a month ago however theres been a significant change since then.
I've tried but can't stop cutting. I tried avoiding my arms but only lasted a month and found I was doing more and deeper so I just went back to my arm. Because I cut my entire arm braclets and a half length top aren't enough to cover it. So unfortunately for me I have to wear a full length cardigan over whatever I'm wearing.
I also found that whilst I mainly cut my arm I still cut my thighs. And I also have a lot of scars some quite nasty so I have to keep my legs covered. Although in summer I usually stretch to opaque tights and skirts. However you can still see some scars through thick tights and whenever anyone asks about them or why I won't remove my cardigan I lie. Something about a rose bush and being drunk. And if you see me drunk then you'll understand it's a very believable story :p

I gave up trying to hide my scars when I got to college. I get way too hot as it is without keeping myself wrapped up when its sunny and warm, so i just stopped hiding. People asked questions, I told them. The majority understood, even went as far as to tell me if i ever needed anyone to talk to I could go and find them, some took it the wrong way. But tbh after a week or so it was old news.

Mine are too obvious to hide. They are literally everywhere. In summer I have to wear short sleeves or I'll die. I can't stand the heat. During the summer nothing changes wear I cut I just will choose stomach or thighs is it's an excessive amount. I won't do shoulders anymore. If someone were to ask, I'd probably awkwardly laugh at first and be like oh there was an accident or something, I don't know. Everyone already knows by now really.

Full arm cutting: I cut deeper and way more often then I ever used to. I have really thin indents from the crick in my elbow all the way down to right where the veins in my wrist are super noticable from back when I used to cut very shallow. Then I have very thick, purple, scars from when I started cutting deep.
I wear these: 2837 all year round.
I own a few of them, some are short sleeve and come to just below the elbow to hide my thick scars, overs are long and go all the way to my wrist. They are thin so I can wear them in the summer and they don't have any kind of buttons.

I have a few jackets/cardigans that go with EVERYTHING. So I just wear those all summer. If you buy them in light colours and make sure they are thin then they shouldn't cause too much suspicion.

I wear bracelets and cardigans, but i havent cut my arms in ages, so im okay when it comes to the summer.. i tend to stick to my thighs as they are much easier to hide.
Nobody has ever seen the full extent of my scars, i dont want them too.. people have seen my arms but as they are slowly fading there isnt much to see at the moment.
Also makeup is what got me through last summer... my arm was pretty orange but it covered the worst of it.. if anyone says anything i either shrug it off or i tell them i have some vicious cats (i dont even like cats or have them :P).
