I try and listen to different types of music, but I do enjoy post-rock quite a bit (though I need more artists). And I don't really have any favourite artist apart from The Middle East.

Indie, alt. rock, synthpop, darkwave, industrial rock/metal, symphonic metal, steampunk, dark cabaret, post-punk/goth.

A couple bands who top my list:
Nightwish - symphonic metal
Emilie Autumn - industrial (I guess, if I had to pick an actual subgenre. She calls herself violindustrial)
The Dresden Dolls - dark cabaret/post-punk (same as above. The Dresden Dolls are self-dubbed Brechtian punk cabaret)
Marilyn Manson - I really don't know where to group them. Hard rock/metal with a tiny bit of industrial rock? It depends on the album I guess.
Nine Inch Nails - industrial rock
Imogen Heap - synthpop/indie

My favorite type of music is just a general "rock" area. I like things in that area for the lyrics, guitar riffs, the originality, and a lot more.

I have a few favorite artists out of different genres. Pink Floyd, Dream Theater, The Dear Hunter, Rise Against, Porcupine Tree, and Fall Out Boy are my favorite bands.

Love dubstep cause of the way it makes me feel. Just turn up volume and let the music engulf me. Feel like I'm free when I listen to Dubstep.

Whereas Rock etc I look for the meaningful songs, the ones I can relate to.
