I know this is going to sound really conceited, but I want to know what is proper to say when someone tells you that you're smart. What I mean is that I always get perfect scores in school and never get lower than an A, and I remember almost everything we learn, so I never study, and people realize this. Then they say stuff like, "Lauren, how are you so smart?" or, "How do you always get good grades?" or, "I studied for two hours for that test and only got a 83%. How did you get a 99%?" or, "You're really smart. I wish I was as smart as you." And I'm not kidding, people say that all the time. So how am I supposed to respond?

I get this a lot too. I find it kind of awkward.
I usually say "Oh, well I work very hard. Thanks for noticing." or something.

I kinda just say thanks.... I've never really studied and hate telling people that, because it makes them feel bad.
