Hello VT forum users,
I have been reading some of the other self harm posts within the forum.
I have been cutting on/off (depending on the situation aka stress/sad times) for about 6 years.
When I cut I always cut in the same place in which is my left wrist.
Not sure if this is because of my slight ocd amd also I am very self critical off my self in which is a big negative.
When my mum and step dad found out I got forced into speaking with a counciler. which did not go for long.
So I just lied about my self harming and said it passed to my mum and stepdad.
Not sure what the real reason why I started in the first place there were and still are lots. But I am mostly angry with the divorce of my parents which happened when i was four years old.
My mum never believed in me or trusted me all the way through secondary in which i got bullied for the whole stretch.
I can say that I am in much more happier place in life by passing college, working, having a relationship and living with my bio dad.
You could say why do I cut? No need...I think that..but from doing it when the situations occur I feel in control with myself and again do it on my same left wrist :|
Sorry about the life storey, got a bit carried away.
But I feel a bit lighter by sharing.
Back to the main question, Does anybody else cut in one particular place?

I don't like it to vary, unless I'm carving. But I haven't done that for ages. Not the exact place, because I don't cut over scars, but I've very specific about cutting in a single location. It used to be my forearms, but I switched to my calves because I got very agitated with my self-harm being a family issue. I never liked cutting my thighs, so I did calves, usually I wear jeans so they're hidden, but when I wear dresses I just either put makeup on them or wear stockings. I don't usually care about people seeing, since on a day to day basis I don't wear make-up and I always wear short-sleeves, but I used to be very particular to not letting people see, say, when I was changing in the locker rooms at school. The arm warmers I wore to cover my cuts became too conspicuous, to the point that everyone knew when I cut because they figured it out, that I wear arm warmers until they heal.
But yeah, I'm very particular. I have specifics on where I can, how I can, etc. but I am OCD, so I don't know how much of that is SH ritual or just me being OCD. For instance, I can't cut on my inner right arm. I can do the side or the top, but not the inner. Not my wrists either, but I'm planning to get tattoos on both wrists so that might be something unrelated. Vertical on my arms, horizontal on my calves. On my calves, they have to be evenly distributed. I can't just do a single line of them. There have to be some on every side.

I have used a wrist band to try and hide it in the first stages, but i felt like people noticed it it so now I just try and hide it with a thick watch or have a combination of watch and bracelets. Also I use long sleeved tops/cardy's it be easy hidden.
thanks for the reply :)

I pretty much always cut on my left arm/wrist. I don't vary much although I do occasionally cut on my thighs, and I have done it other laces but no more than once.

Hmmn, I used to. Always cut on my lower left arm; found some places which are easier to hide though...

I used to only do it on my upper legs, same spot. There's almost a perfect square scar the size of my hand where I kept going over and over it for a couple of years straight.
Now it's mainly my left arm, just below the crick, same spots.

I used to only cut on my arms, but when I was found out, I only cut on my hip/thigh area. I've always felt quite strange about cutting my arms, I'm quite drawn to it for some reason. If I ever get so desperate that I can't even take the time to pull down my tights or trousers, I'll do it on my arms, or if I disassociate and I'm not thinking at all, I'll do it on my arms. But yeah, I go out of my way to keep to a particular area.

I cut everywhere and everywhere, but mostly I cut my left forearm and ankles. During the summer I usually switch to my thighs, because it's easier to hide. So it ranges on the time of season. But mostly its my left forearm. I don't like people seeing, but I made that sort of impossible.

So far I have only cut on my left wrist, but I hate going over old scars. When it's too warm outside for long sleeves, I wear lots of bracelets or wristbands.

I started out just cutting on my left wrist. The scars were easy for me to conceal because I have a habit of wearing a zillion bracelets, so no one's ever suspected anything. Then my cuts weren't healing fast enough so I began on my ankles. I wear long socks to hide it. I'll probably have to stop cutting there for the summer, however. Sometimes I cut on my shoulder, even though I know it might raise questions when I wear tanks.
As soon as I no longer have to take PE I'll probably begin to cut on my stomach.
