Today I was outside...in shorts and a tank-top....well, I was like...freezing.

You could really see my scars they were like purple. Why is it that they turn purple when I'm cold?

I am not 100% sure, but I happens to me too. I think it's probably due to your blood flowing slower and the fact that it's scar tissue/new skin that it appears even more noticeably blue/purple then the rest of you does

Another thing that will make your scars more noticeable is florescent lights... my school is covered in them and they make scars as old as 3 years just pop out like i did it last night

The lack of oxygen and blood flow will turn them purple, just like your hands and feet and so on.

I think it is lack of oxygen in that area because of the new scar tissue forming a kind of hard coat around the wound.

Is there a way I can make them less noticeable without any like creams & stuff?

Just methods, or are we talking home remedies? Olive oil hun. It's great for skin in general, and should help nicely to help heal the scars and soften the skin.

Keep warm :P I've noticed this as well. I was in Chicago for a concert a month ago, it was quite cold and windy, and I was in a sleeveless dress. I love the cold, but the really nasty scar on the inside of my arm I did over a year ago was bruise purple until they let the VIPs in and I warmed up. My white scars don't do that, the ones that have healed and become more skin-like. The ones with the rubbery texture that are still healing, those always turn purple for me.

Olive oil? How does that help? Lol. Worth a try, though :]

Like I said, it's good for your skin, regenerating skin cells, and that's a known stretch mark cure as well. Stretch marks are just scars anyhow. I use olive oil when I don't have any of the creams on me.

Mine do that, it's blantently obvious that they're self-harming scars then. 'tis so hard to hide D:

Vitamin E is also meant to help but my scars stay purple all year round. Which confuses me
