May I learn your graphic card's model?

Mine is ATI RADEON HD 5450, and my friend told me that Gigabytes weren't impotant in a graphic card, but the important thing was the second digit. For example, a 4600 would be better than a 5450.

My friend has 5950 and says I should get that. But even if I paid the money my parents wouldn't allow me to pay a card 600 dollars. I will definitely buy an ATI card instead of NVidia and I need some advice.

your friend is so very wrong indeed.

The amount of memory on a GPU doesnt affect performance. Basically, the more memory you have the better the textures will look.

Model numbers have NOTHING to do with the performance. For example.

an AMD 6500 Series GPU is not as fast as an AMD 5900 Series GPU.

I have a single AMD6990 which is a big contender for the fastest card in the world. Some Nvidia fan boys will say nope the 590 is quicker but in most tests done by independent magazines and online communities the 6990 has come out on top in certain areas

Me: A 4600 is better than 5450
You: A 5900 is better than 6500

We say the same thing. Only our examples are different. I say that the second digit matters, and you say the same thing.

My friend said that the memory (GB) is not important and you also said that the amount of memory isn't important.

And you say my friend is wrong. Were you awake while you were writing this man?

Yeah I am also aware of the 6990 vs NVidia GTX 590 rivalry and everyone says NVidia but ATI is way better.

So you say go with ATI and buy 6990, do you know another ATI card which is cheaper but has a performance close to 6990? Like a card which would play games on high / ultra settings for few years?

6990 is a dual gpa, right? Get two of 6850 and do a crossfire, and you will be fine.

well atm your best bet to play games on high or ultra for a couple of years to come would be a 5950 or 70.

Theres a big change coming. New engines are being released and game devs are starting to use the PC more to show off thier work.

My friend told me THE SAME THING, though with 5970 and with my current card. And Faris I said that my parents would never give or allow me to give 600 dollars for A graphic card and you say " Buy TWO of 6850 " :D

Well if you guys know it can anyone tell me the prices of 6850 and 5970? Only prices I found so far were from 1-2 years before.

Hey, the gfx I just told you is around 180, tick both and you get 360$ for it!

Plus, why do you need a new gfx card? If I had that gfx card, I would stick with it for a long time, and save my expansion money for later.

180 dollars? Are you kidding me? 5950 is 600 dollars how come 6990 is 180?

And well it is because I had a heart attack when my computer couldn't play Dragon Age 2 beyond Medium graphics and 2x anti aliasing.
I'm planning to buy 5950, or any other better graphic card and crossfire them.

6850 is 180. Not 6990. 6990 is the most expensive gaming graphic unit till now.

Why don't you go nVidia? Come to nVidia, Come to nVidia!

NVidia also seems attractive and all forums I have been to says NVidia is better but all of my friends say that ATI is better and NVidia lags computer.

But I also heard that NVidia had an option to set the amount of power to be used on a program, like from the NVidia Center on your PC you could say "Give full power to MW2"! And you'd have 2-3 times better graphics in MW2.

There shouldn't be a huge difference between 6850 and 6990 why are the prices so different?

Here (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102908), A Sapphire 6850 is selling for 169$ - buy two goddamn of them!

If you are not sure with 6850, there is always 6870 if you want.

Again, a 6990 is a dual GPA(It's like an inbuilt crossfire), that's why it is expensive.

I will never buy stuff from here(where I am), an evga 560Ti is 430$ - fuck it man. You are lucky you know, if you find your parts a lot cheaper.

Then Sapphire 6850 x 2 it is!

Though I still wait for other people to post.
