View Full Version : What is with 3D, seriously?

You don't notice it after about 15 seconds. And you can only see a very limited amount of it depending on your viewing angle. Why does fucking everything have to be 3D now? It's stupid, I refuse to support any company that's selling 3D stuff so I'm basically down to waiting for OLED TVs and samsung phones.

From use in various stores, I think it's currently a pointless, expensive waste. I won't buy one til they're glasses free and a helluva lot cheaper.

I have a 3DS system, and I love the 3D effect. Although it's not as good as on a 3D TV, but still it's amazing!

i hate this trend passionately. a great deal of that hate has to do with my eyes, which operate independently and thus don't work with 3D. it's a very annoying waste of money.

I agree. I sucked it in the 60's. It sucked in the 80's. It still very much sucks in the 2000s.

But lots of movies are making twice their profit if they decide to make it 3d. They could care less if people like it or not, if it's making money, it's here to stay.

Because it's a cheap gimmick that everybody falls for.

Because it's a cheap gimmick that everybody falls for.I had this feeling that these 3D t.v or other apparatuses doesn't have any difference from those grand-mother old CTR televisions.

We still use CTRs, you know. I am never going to replace these stuffs.

I think you mean CRTs :)
I believe it stands for cathode ray tube? not cathode tube ray lolz.

Sorry for the somewhat off topic but, is anyone going to see FF5 tonight or tomorrow? It's not 3d but... BOOBIES AND CARS!!! :D

It's the most mediocre concept I've ever heard. I've seen one 3D movie that I didn't cringe in, and it wasn't designed to be 3D (it was the 3D thing they did with Nightmare Before Christmas in the cinema a couple years back). Now they've got 3D TVs, the 3DS I'll be forced to buy at some point just because I want to continue getting DS games. I'm told porn has gone 3D as well.

I think that one company came out with 3D crap and then a whole bunch of company's jumped on the bandwagon. It's kinda like apple. They where pretty much pioneers in a touch screen phone. Then a whole bunch of other company's decided to cash in on the opportunity.

Personally I don't care to have a 3D tv. Some movies are ok in 3D but I actually would rather have watched Avatar in 2D.

3D is better for some people worse for others. Really, they're just trying to make money by starting a fad, as many companies that sell entertainment do.

If my parents ever buy a 3D tv I'll smack them.

Anyone tried the nintendo 3DS thing? It's pretty neat but I just mean it doesnt really make what youre playing better or more fun. It makes you almost kinda disoriented ugh

I have the 3DS and I'm sure that it will be a much nicer experience to play Ocarina of Time on the 3DS when it comes out. If they just made a normal remake I wouldn't even bother buying it. But I must say I do like the 3D effect, it's cool to look at.

Honestly, I love the idea of 3D. I wish my phone was one of the phones that has a 3D screen. I would love it!

What, are there really phones with visuals in 3D now too? Why?

Your battery would probably run out in ~10 minutes. These effects are not battery friendly.

They're not GPU friendly either. They require a GPU to process the same frame 2x so your FPS usually halves, if not lower. That's the main reason they're not battery friendly. That also produces heat though, not good for electronics.

3D is a gimmick I believe and will not hang around...( on home TV's, etc..) It is expensive and really who wants to wear glasses @ home just tow atch the TV. Imagine a Super Bowl party... you would need 15-20 pairs so everyone could watch it. Another soon to be passing trend.
