Because it bothers me, although it shouldn't and it's none of my business.
There's this girl that goes to my school and is a lesbian, at least she says. I've always believed that, she's had a few girlfriends. But recently she started going out with this guy and so I asked her "I thought you were a lesbian?" and she goes "I am a lesbian, he's just the only exception."
Does this make sense? Like, no, obviously you're not lesbian, you're attracted to a boy. Unless you don't really like him (which she does a lot, so that's ruled out.) I know it's none of my business and she can date whoever she wants and I'm not saying she can't, and the whole situation is dropped, but it still bothers me a little bit how she says she's a lesbian even though she's with a boy.

I've heard of "gay with exceptions", though I generally think that means "bisexual heavy preference for one gender over the other"

^^ I agree with that. i don't think that it bothers me at all, but I wasn't there when it happened, and that really contributes to the annoying factor...

Yes, this would bug me a lot. This person could be confused with their sexualty, but because she has already dentified herself it would be even more confusing.

There is no such thing as clean-cut sexuality hun. Not everyone is going to be 100% gay, 100% straight, or 50-50. It just doesn't work like that.
In my head, we must decide the labels that we would like to use for ourselves. If you want to be known as a lesbian, use that. But not everyone only likes one sex, or likes both equally. Sexuality is so much more complex than that.
I'm not 100% lesbian. But I feel certain that lesbian is the term I want to use for myself. Bisexual would give the impression that I actually find guys attractive, which I don't. Two guys only are the exception to that, never been genuinely attracted to anyone else. Otherwise, I'm gay. How is that at all bisexual if I've only met two guys in my entire life that I've found attractive, and girls I'm attracted to are numerous?
Does any of this make sense?

Maybe she is in a transition to bi sexual or straight. I'm sure the lesbian thing was just a phase for her

Yes, I agree with this. I think that she is bi, but she prefers girls over guys. BUT, she does make a few execptions. And no this doesnt really bother me.

Maybe is lesbian, and maybe she is just expermenting... but any way as long as she is happy. Thats the only thing that should matter, its not up to us to lable people or get mad at them if the "change" there self imposed lable.
