It's normal. Nearly everybody does it and I doubt God would send everybody to hell for it.

I do it and I'm a Christian. I don't think there's anything wrong with masturbation in and of itself, but if you're watching Pornography, I believe that's a sin. Not saying that if someone else thinks it isn't is wrong, thats just one of my convictions.

watching phornography maybe be sin, but deffs not masturbating. the reason some christians say it is, ie cause somewhere in the bible, god wants this man to have a child, and, he is going to do what god has commanded, and at the last possible moment, he pulls out of the woman and ejacualtes all over the ground. now i believe that gods anger was not because of his sperm touching the ground, but more that he disobeyed god. PM me if you want to talk more. oh, and, i should mention that i am a christian too lol

yeah, the so called "Sin of Onan". I think pretty much every Bible scholar blows that WAY out of proportion. It was definitely because the man refused to have a son with his brother's wife because his brother had died (it was customary to give a widowed, childless woman a child so that the family line could continue), not because he was masturbating (which he wasn't even doing, he was just pulling out) There is nothing in the Bible that says you cannot masturbate

It really depends upon your religion there is nothing specifically in the bible that says the word masturbation nor self pleasure; however, there is a lot of talk about adultery and such.
In the Catholic Church the understanding on masturbation is:
"
Quote:
2352 By masturbation is to be understood the deliberate stimulation of the genital organs in order to derive sexual pleasure. "Both the Magisterium of the Church, in the course of a constant tradition, and the moral sense of the faithful have been in no doubt and have firmly maintained that masturbation is an intrinsically and gravely disordered action." "The deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to its purpose." For here sexual pleasure is sought outside of "the sexual relationship which is demanded by the moral order and in which the total meaning of mutual self-giving and human procreation in the context of true love is achieved."
To form an equitable judgment about the subjects' moral responsibility and to guide pastoral action, one must take into account the affective immaturity, force of acquired habit, conditions of anxiety or other psychological or social factors that lessen, if not even reduce to a minimum, moral culpability."
This fancy talk in essence says masturbation is contrary to God's intention for the holy act of sex ( which is two fold procreative and unifying) masturbation is neither, thus it is a sin and a grave sin a mortal sin one in needing of confession.
It is true that no where in the bible does it explicitly say anything about masturbation per se but it implicitly says it all over the new testament

As joshuathebrainiac say. It`s not mentioned strictly in Bible, but Church forbids it, particularly in Europe where the Church has great influence.People generally do not care for it.Boys of all faiths masturbate all time.
On other side,in thic case there is a big diference between protestants and catholics.

This is where I find the catholic church wrong. They use what the Bible says, but then they add their own rules to it. The Pharisees did the same thing in Jewish times, and Jesus condemned them for it. I don't think that all catholics do this, but the majority of those I know do.

Sure,I think that the church (Vatican) has destroyed the faith.I like Protestants and Islamic view on faith. They don`t allow people to change, whatever they want. They fallow the Bible And Koran, and that is a rule for him.

Im not catholic for the same reasons you just pointed out. I'm Nondenominational which is just following what the bible says basically. I do think that they couldve made the word a little bit shorter though lol

I am Confirmed Anglican Christian, I am a bit hit and miss over the entire thing, i think for relief yer, but pleasure, stress or boredom is wrong, but either way I believe that all souls go to heaven because god has created us and knows what will happen so if he didnt want us to do it he would not make us

I am Pagan, but I follow the teachings of Jesus. I really don't think that Jesus or God minds that you masturbate. I don't believe that it's a sin. How could it be? It's natural, and he knows that too. Plus the Bible doesn't really say anything about masturbating. Just believe what your heart believes and what you think God and Jesus would want for you.
