I saw a plane the other day and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what it might be. It was silver with an extremely skinny body, with very wide wings. Probably about twice as wide as regular wings.

Ideas?

Very similar. Don't know what one of these would be doing flying around though.

Would be a bomber... Where you live again? Might want to consider a move. xD

I'm curious to hear what the VT Airplane Pro has to say..

And it didn't sound like a jet engine at all really.

Couple of questions:

Where where you?
What airport/airstrip where you near at the time, if you know?
Was it taking off, landing, of passing over head in flight.
Could you make out any sort of colours on it at all? Distinct ones.
Did it sound like it was powered by propellers?

1) Ellington Field (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellington_Airport_(Texas)), and the regular Houston airports.
2) My house. So not really near any.
3)Flying in air
4) It was sliver and it seemed to have some emblem on the wing?
5) Never head a plane of that magnitude have propellers. Didn't sound like a jet engine though.

Edit: It was flying towards the direction of Ellington Field

3)Flying in air

Be more specific, if you can. Did it (ignore the plane in the picture, just pay notice to the height) look like this:

Oh no, it was lower, like it was in decent about to land.

Hmm. Was the plane like this? Ignore the paint.

The height, was higher. The body is good but the wings about if not over twice as wide.

Same number of props?

Iceman

Couldn't quite see if it was even props.

Hmm. If it was Ellington Field, then I am at a loss by way of USAF and military aircraft. I'll ask around and get back to you. Any other info like date, time, etc. would be appreciated.

I think it was the U2 Spy Plane, NASA has 2 and according to online forums they are often at Ellington Field, which is NASA's Houston base. The U2 has a very large wing for a very skinny body.

Definately the U-2. As radio said NASA uses them at ellington. NASA's are white and have the logo on the wings

Well, Tyler, could it be the U2? Or is it my bomber? :3

It was closer to your's Trae. I saw the U2 online, the night I posted this, but the plane I saw was bigger than the U2 looks.

did it have any noticable extras on it?
things like refueling hoses, could be a clue to find the purpose and then make it easier to track it down

I don't remember anymore. I didn't notice a refueling hose, I do not believe it was big enough.

Could it have been the Concorde?
