I burn people's names into my legs, aswell as song lyrics. Well, only one person's name...Tina .
But I also burn song lyrics, and I take photos, and last night video taped myself doing it, with an explenation of why. And I will never tell anyone I know.
I don't even know why I posted this thread.
Does anyone know if burns scar permanently?
Thanks

I think they do. I have one on the back of my wrist from 2009 that you can still see. You should really talk to someone about that.

Oh dear :/ I've burnt Tina horribly, it looks a bit like a Tim :|
But I don't really want to talk to anyone about it, cause then that'd just cause problems

Not necessarily. It'd mean you could get help so you wouldn't want to do that anymore.

Yeah, but there's loads of problems, my family would either take the unbearable piss out of me if I even tried to get therapy, or I'd be shunned, I'm not addicted to it or anything, I just love the ritual, seeing the burns go up and seeing the words in my legs... <--- I sound odd

As madman said, you should attempt to get some help. Maybe your family will just be glad you want to get better.

See there must be a reason behind that right? Cos that isn't healthy behaviour. If your family mock you, sit them down and talk. Tell them what you're feeling. If that doesn't work, least you tried.

Burns do scar, but they will eventually fade in time.
I think you should talk to someone, you may not feel you should. But your hurting yourself for this Tina. So please talk to someone, anyone.

I can stop doing it anytime I want, it's just she's put me through so many different emotions...I love her but hate me, I guess I'll just stop then, I'll stop to think my life out...thanks everyone

Depends on the burn, if it's quite a nasty one then it's most likey that it'll scar. but hopefully fade with time!

Im sorry that you're having a rough time, and that someone called Tina is clearly on your mind, but i agree, you should probally talk to someone. Whoever you feel comfortable talking to <3

Iam.

Depends on the temperature, how long you hold it, some will fade away, but most burns if severe enough will be there forever.

Nevermore

Burn scars are permanent, and well I think should get help. It would be good for you, and in your best interest. You don't want scars forever do you? When your in your 80s, and have kids. It's addictive, and hard to stop. If you can stop anytime, stop now.

Ya I know what you mean...I probably will get scars, I didn't do it last night for the first time in a bit, so I guess I could stop but it's an urge, thanks anyway - but due to family issues, I can't get help

As everyone's said, it depends on the severity of the burn on whether it'd scar. I used to burn a lot and i still have several scars from just over a year and a half ago, but others have faded completley.
If you are not addicted then i suggest stopping now before you are. being addicted to self harm is not fun. If you haven't tried to stop you may have not realised you where addicted. it wasn't until i tried to stop that I realised I was.

I know exactly what you mean. I stopped for one night, and oh my days...it was so difficult, so last night I just did more than any I've ever done before...it's so addictive, and I know what everyone means now, I'm such an idiot

So now you've realised you're addicted, you should probably try and stop before you become more addicted.

Try and use distractions when you want to burn, such as writing, drawing, listening to music or playing an instrument. Anything that can be used to distract yourself really. You could also try using ice where you want to burn, this hurts but doesn't cause damage and therefore scars.

Feel free to pm or email me if you want any help :)
