Two weeks ago, I got in an argument with this girl who I use to consider my friend. After the way she acted when we were fighting, ands after what she told people, I haven't been friends with her. Sure, I still hang around her, but that's only because we share the same friends. after a week of her making little comments when I was around her, she finally decided to act civil, and acted like my friend again(she actually talks about me badly behind my back..) I don't consider her my friend at all though anymore, im only being polite, so that I can get through the year.

..anyways what this has to do with cutting is as badly as I felt through out the whole fighting, I didn't feel the need to cut at all, compared to when im around her. I actually felt really happy when I wasn't around her.

..sorry just processing, but can one person really drive me to hurt myself? One individual, mean spirited person....

I would say in many situations one person can make the difference between whether you hurt yourself or not. You said you felt better when you were not around her, so perhaps it would be best for you to cut ties with her altogether. If she is making you feel miserable, why waste your time on her?

Anyways, anything that mentally is painful can be a trigger for self harm, and if she is being terrible, along with any other stress you are experiencing, then it's normal that it triggers you.

People can trigger an emotional downfall that can drive you to cut, just the same as they can drive people to drink or smoke. It's all one in the same only different releases.

Do as instructed above and cut ALL TIES with her. Don't look at her, don't talk to her, don't even smile at her. And you will come to realize just how much happier you truely are!

If your general mood around a certain person is less, then it can mean you react worse to other situations, causing you to cut more often. I highly doubt it is just her that makes you cut, but if she brings your mood down even slightly it could be a contributing factor.
