I bought Guitar Hero 5 for my PS2 and I did everything the manual said when I was starting the game: connecting the "what's its name" to the PS2, turning the controller on, keeping a button on the "what's its name" pressed and pressing a button on the controller. Well, the thing is, it doesn't work, the game says to press any button, so I do, and it doesn't detect it. Can you help me?

sounds like you are having problems syncing the controller to the reciever.

post a picture maybe so I could better understand your problem..

Sorry, can't do it right now... Could you tell me how you do it to synchronize it, because it looks like you've got the game.

is your guitar wireless?

Yes, it is.

Are there any lights indicating that the controller is connected to the reciever?

When I press a button on the controller, the receiver lights up, but the guitar has absolutely no lights while the game is on, it just blinks when I press the button on the receiver.

I'd try connecting a regular controller to try and get past the "press any button" screen

That's what I did, but then it still can't synchronize and I can't play with the guitar.

Don't the guitars have batteries?

plug the reciever into another port?

Yeah, I'll try that but I doubt it will work though...

Don't the guitars have batteries?

Yes, they do, mine are brand new, so that's not the problem.

What should happen goes like this:
- turn on console
- light on the receiver blinks slowly
- press the button on the receiver it should start to blink faster(searching for controller)
- if the controller is turned on(maybe you need to press a button too) both the light on the controller and the receiver should stay on and it works.

I tried on my gh3 controller and the wireless ps2 controllers i had and that's all of it, if it doesn't do it i think you should send it back to the store. Oh yeah, does the neck on the gh5 controller still separate from the body? - if so check the contacts in between

I wanted to ask that, though in a more sarcastic way :D

I managed to make the game work today! Afterwards I turned it off to clear my memory card and when I tried to turn it on again it didn't work, like it did yesterday and I can't remember what I did to make it work in the first place...

That's what I do, but when I press a button on the controller it doesn't work. I press a button on the controller, the receiver blinks which indicates it's receiving a signal but it has no effect on the game...

Ah i get it now, I think the receiver is more likely to blame, since it reacts to the guitar, but isn't passing it along to the game but... dunno what you could do about that... Hope you figure it out.

Thanks you. :)
It's working perfectly now and the mistake was the most stupid, the receiver wasn't plugged in correctly, because I stopped when I saw lights, but I should have pushed it further in.
