New series of Doctor who started today, what did everyone think of the first episode?

I thought it was pretty good. Though just as I started getting into it it finished.

Really good. Confusing slightly, but still good.
I kept thinking The Silence were Slenderman though. :P

What happened in the first 5 minutes? I was out! It was really good when I started watching though. I knew Amy was pregnant as soon as she almost threw up. I really enjoyed how intense the first ep. was. The alien is super creepy, and I screamed when Amy shot the little girl. Can't wait for next week!

The first 5 minutes is Amy and Rory and River getting the envelopes telling them were to meet the doctor. And the doctor getting killed if you missed that bit.

Huge Who fan, loved every second of it! Is it just me or did the beach-picnic scene remind anyone of Logopolis? :D

Can't wait to see the Silence again, they're brilliantly creepy - and Amy pregnant? Nah. River got sick after forgetting the Silence as well, remember? :P


It's not the best episode for new viewers to jump in with, is it? Especially since this series continues from the last - you'd have to start with Series Five or Series One (or even Season One if you're adventurous and have lots of spare time! :cool:)

I absolutely love Doctor Who! I ran into it by mistake about 2 years ago. Since then, watched every episode on netflix up through season 5. Havent seen the any of the new season, but it sounds quite epic!

Series five would not be a bad place to start, but personally I'd begin with series one (for Drake, that's the first season of the reboot). I personally feel that both Eccleston and Tennant are superior to Smith as The Doctor.

i love this show so much. I would start with the first season of the new series if you want to start somewhere since it does explain alot of what happens at times when you see things. But this season i can tell will be just as good as the others.

i am very very unhappy with this series!
although i do still watch it and i am still hooked
but it seems like Amy Pond is running the show and the Doctor is just a co star! even in the last one
is she going to marry rory or isnt she?
is she pregnant or isnt she?
i like the "crack in her wall" stick but its starting to go to far
she is leading him more than him running the show!

Yeah, Amy is a HUGE Mary Sue. The show will probably get better once The Doctor gets a new companion.

absolutely I know its obviously realistic but theres some stuff that is just two far fetched theres like the doctor, a time lord, that is 900 years old (or near abouts) then theres then theres Amy who is a human and what like 21. hmmmm.

The only reason they didn't get married in the first episode is 'cos the Doctor took them away :)

I totally agree about them two. Smith does the doctor ok, not the best tho, nothing like tennant. So far he is my favorite out of the newer versions of the series.

It'll be the season finale and River will kill Any because she got corrupted by the Silence. This is my prediction. We won't find out who she is until at least the next season, and the season where we find out, that will be the season's theme. This is also my prediction

if im honest, iam greatly disapointed at who river song actualy is. this series has been, mediocre at best, highly unbelieveable and seems less "dr who" ish that past series. iv waited close to 3 seriies i thinm to find out who river song is, and is annoying ponds daughter. could have been sooooo much better. so so much better.

i suppose. i think, she killed the doctor. or, the master (yes, i heard he is back) i just think they could have made her a better person other than melody pond. also, im saddened at the death of the daleks, no more shall they be on our tv :(
