From what I see, nowadays neighbors are getting more and more distant than before. Don't you feel the same?

I've had a family moving to a house in my street about two months ago, and I have only known they had a son who is about my age one month ago. The thing is, I don't have many friends, especially male, so I'd like to hang out and become friends with him, but it's hard because we practically never talk them, the only time I've talked to those neighbors was in last year's Summer and the only ones who were there were the parents. In fact, since he's moved here I have only seen him once. Maybe I should try and start talking to him, but I haven't found him on the street yet since I found out he existed and I'm not going to his house with a freshly-baked apple pie. :P
Oh, I have convinced my dad to talk to them and invite them for a cup of coffee or something, but only in the Summer...
I'm not asking for advice, I just wanted to rant, but if you want, it's welcomed.

Well, I don't even know his name so I can't add him on Facebook. I had already thought of that, but it couldn't be done... :P
Well, the second advice I can't do it, because I'm a bit shy and I wouldn't feel comfortable with it.

Anyway, thanks for the response. :)

I don't really care about not knowing my neighbors...I have been living in a new neighborhood since October, and nobody has really ever made contact with me, but I don't really give a damn. Like, my life is completely seperate from theirs...they are the kind of people that stay at home all day and mow their lawns. Ew.

I have plenty of friends. haha....anyways, I think it still sounds like a good idea to meet the new family in the summer...after all, you would have the good neighborly potential that i never recieved... -.-

I've never been close to neighbours that are my age, but the elderly couple next door treated me like a grand daughter (still do) and there was a young couple the other side that were friendly. People don't come and go a lot on my street, so I at least know who people are/their names to say hello to - but no one my age (of interest) in sight within 10-15 houses either side.

If you can't get to know your neighbours, maybe you could take up something extra curricular away from school to make new friends/get to know new people? That's some I wish I'd done when I had the chance.

They know them a bit, not that well. We already hung out with them, but only with the parents, and just one time.

There are only five houses in my street, counting mine too, and I know the people from two of them so I say hello to them and stuff.
About your suggestion, I would, but I'm not really up for it at this point of my life, I need to focus on other stuff now. But thanks anyway. :)
