I am completely, and totally new to cooking, and I have literally never cooked a thing in my life until this year. I am recovering from anorexia, and I have lost my grandmother, who would cook the few meals that I ate.
Tonight, I was asked to make broccoli (any way I'd like it, it is currently raw and packaged in my refrigerator) and my uncle is making lasagna.
I love broccoli, especially boiled :yummy: . But uhm...not sure how to boil? A little help in this embarrassing predicament would be greatly appreciated.

There are two ways you could do it: Boil it or steam it.
To boil it just fill up 3/4 of a saucepan with water and put it on the stove, put it onto the 3-4 setting and put the broccoli in. Either cut up the broccoli into smaller florets or leave it as it is, but make sure if its sticking out of the saucepan you put the lid on when it starts to bubble/boil.
To steam it you basically boil a saucepan of water and put a steamer (Another thing that looks like a saucepan but it has holes at the bottom) ontop of the saucepan and put the broccoli in that. Let the water boil underneath and the steam from it will cook the broccoli.

Thanks so much! :D I have to see if we have a steamer, that one sounds like more fun.

No problem :P I prefer steaming personally, the water from boiling it usually absorbs the nutrients so steaming it retains them instead

Thanks for the advice!
Just had dinner, helped make the lasagna as well. The broccoli turned out really well. :D
I steamed it. :D
I did have trouble cutting it though. I was going about it all wrong. x)
