ok, so i have been thinkig for awile and I haven't believe in " God " for quite sometime. religious poeple always tried to help me believe, giving me answer that for me atleast don't make sense ... why God only create in this planet? why people draw or picture alien like little green being with 3 fingers and black eyes if god made us in his image? why god let a perfect race like the dinosaurs, and by perfect i mean that they don't kill for money, envy, or any other unimportant thing, like the humans ? to that specific question people answer "but they did kill too", yeah but they did it for survival, to eat, not for green like the humas. ... they are alot of questions that doesn't make sense and are not answers to me on of the more basic question is why god didn't help the jewish people if the are God chosen people ?

to me God didn't create us, we created God. we created him, 'cause we needed something to to answer, were we come from, why are we here and to answer the thing that are mind cannot answer, in the past if i could not answer something, it was God but maybe in the future someone will answer and what would happend to God

Don't worry bud, most of VT are atheists, too.

On another note, this is my 400th post. Hell yeah.

I agree with you,. hahaha my only other problem is when people say "thank you god for giving me this or that" my point of view is No one gave you that. you worked your ass of for it or did something to achive it. magic voices didnt appear out of your ass and told you here i deliver you this house, or laptop, or whatever

This reminds me of how, after people recover from sickness or a family member/friend of theirs does, they "thank God" for being alive.

No. Shut the fuck up. You thank your doctor, not 'God,' for getting you out of that. The staff at the hospital probably spent hours getting you the right medication, analyzing your health problems or doing complicated surgical procedures to keep you alive. Meanwhile, your god let you get into this mess in the first place, since he's "all-knowing" and "all-powerful". Thanking God before the doctors who saved your ass is just selfish and wrong.

Part of the reason I look to secular Buddhism is because, unlike the monotheistic religions, Buddhism encourages self-reliance.

God is a fairy tale that we made to explain things. If you're going to believe in god, you might as well believe in Zeus and Thor, et al.

Yes, but usually 'thank god' is more an expression of relief than it is actually thanking a 'god'.

Well, I've seen far too many people go out of their way to thank god for surviving something instead of the people who actually helped them.

In that case you've every right to get annoyed. Where I live, 'thank god' is merely an expression, there's hardly anyone in my year who actually believes in god, which is quite a pleasant thought really.

It's the same with me. A lot of us don't believe but still use expressions like "thank god", "oh god," "god damnit," etc.

Agreed with the fact that the phrases like "Thank god" don't acctually thank god... unless they make it sound specifically, like "I thank god for this gift." Then it's just stupid. YOU worked like hell for it. YOU were the one who got it. Stop thinking some guy with a beard made it out of thin air and left it on your doorstep, that's what shipping companies are for.

Well, ima point this out: most atheists are from the U.S. And out of the world like only 20% are atheist. This is for a reason be it we need an excuse or god really exists (i think god exists but I'm not forcing my beliefs on anybody)

I want to believe in God, and I think I do, but I've been through a lot of confusion, and I don't understand why He wouldn't help me. So maybe there is one, but I'm not sure if I like Him

If god really does exist, i don't think he helps people, i think he just watches us as a form of amusement (As cruel as that sounds,) but after words greets us with a handshake and says "Thanks for taking it all in stride my friend!"

He wouldn't help you because he can't.

So you're saying you're wrong and that no one besides you thinks God is a support system.

I think Gods are Posthuman beings, watching us suffer and throw philosophical questions. We are just some playthings to them.

Well I guess that would count as men in the sky... ._.

Lemme rephrase my previous statement, there is no man in the sky with divine powers to help anybody.
Ok?
Ok.
