View Full Version : Reformatting a Dell Dimension 2400 takes FOREVER!

Yea I just went though reformatting my desktop last night into early morning...well my brother did it for me as he knows how to do that...

Anyways I'm not even done with it yet, I have to reload about 10 programs and restore everything I have backed up on the other desktop.

At least everything is running so much faster now.

back to work...

Um, your not doing something right then.

I can have a P2 with a 80gb drive formatted and have windows ME installed all in less than 2hrs.

To each his own i suppose.

its just an old computer...loading all the files takes forever with this setup...

anyways its done now and all restored...no problems at all

for some reason mine doesn't reformat, now its sitting in the garage collecting dust, when i reformat it, it gets a new Os but the viruses and programs my brother had on it still stays on it.

Then you didnt format it. :P Look up how to write zero's to the drive. That will get rid of any and every thing on it.

Sounds like your just repairing XP
