I have often wondered, what peoples motivation or drive is for exercising or doing sport.
I cant find any motivation any more, so i thought i might as well ask people on VT what they use as a motivation. :)

I just enjoy sports a lot, so I don't have to force myself to go do it.
As for exercising I just want to be healthier, and I want to build my stamina up, so that motivates me usually.

i don't have that much motivation given that I sit in front of the computer for school all day, but my new motivation is to prepare for track. I am going to be joining a team. :D

Find something that you like. I personally love running, skiing, karting, and swimming all for different reasons. Skiing and Karting are great because of the speed, g-force, and precision that you need to race around gates/other karts. Running is a bit iffy for me, I love doing long cross country races, but I can't stand any track race beyond 800 meters, I just hate the idea of running around in circles. Swimming is also a lot of fun, because the dive, stroke, and flip are all very different but very similar in a way, and I like the thrill that goes through me in a race.
If you're looking for motivation, just figure out what works well for you. Some people like teamwork, others (like me) like individuality. Some people like slow, mind-focused sports, others like fast, skill-based ones. Just make sure that you're having fun doing whatever you're doing, and you'll always be motivated to keep going at it

This is exactly my motivation. I keeps me active, working, and busy. It for my own good and it reminds me that it can help me out in the long run. After skipping all the sports in P.E, I now do Track, Cross Country, and Figure Skating. :D I got me so much leg muscle, I can chase a running thief, that's Kenyan :D

A basic benefit of motivation is that the motivated employees always look for better ways to do a job and at the same time they are more quality oriented, apart from being more productive. People need motivation when they feel that they are about to lose their jobs because of the company's instability.

Motivation depends on the sport I'm playing. For XC and track, its running behind that really fast guy with a nice butt... In soccer, I always want control of the ball. During snowboarding and biking- speed is my motivation..

For personal fitness, it's to keep up the way I look. I have a naturally thin figure, and I don't work out much. The only thing I do is work on my abs when I notice that I've gained a bit of weight. When I gain weight, it sits directly on my stomach, and doesn't take much work at all to fix, so I'm lucky in that sense.
For volleyball, it's all internal. Part of it is because I love the sport. I don't care how many times my feet bleed from the blisters, how many times I get floor burn, how many times I get a rash from my knee pads, how many times I get hit in the face with the ball, I keep going back for more. I can be bleeding in four different places, and yet I'm still hitting the floor over and over again because there's something inside of me that pushes me. A little voice that tells me to "Keep going, push harder, get there, go faster." that doesn't quit even when my body tells it to.
I also am lucky to have a great coach that motivates not only me, but the entire team. Her passion for the sport has rubbed off on me, along with the rest of us.

There are two things that moyivate me and they are:
The main thing is that I personally am always trying to be the absolute best there is and not let anyone get better at something than I already am
The second is that it depends on how upset I am, if I am having a good day I can run a mile in about 6:28 but if I am having a bad day that mile turns about to 5:58-6:00

My motivation to stay on my swim team is the fact that it's fun and I have friends there. And I'd be huge if I didn't...

What motivates me is the competitive fire I have in me.I can't stand someone to be better than me.Especially if he's my age.I can't stand losing and I always want more. There is not such thing as enough when you are an athlete - there is just a little bit more you can do.

My motivation is knowing that the lads I am doing it with and me are having a good time, its great for socialising.
Another way that I look at is being able to set yourself goals. For example, if I'm in the gym I set myself a goal of gaining 20kg on the bench press in a month. Or when running that I can do 1.5miles and loose 10-20 seconds on my pb.
Having motivational images around your room helps a lot too. Some of the lads I know have posters of bodybuilders on their wall etc.
Hope this helps! ;)
