TRIGGERING : Leave A Scar - Bullying/Self-Harm/Suicide Photography Series

In honour of the Day of Silence, I've decided to do this set that I've been thinking of doing for a while. This is really the first time I've ever sat down and said I'd do some photography of my own. All I usually do is the occasional photo here and there when I have my camera, and concert photography.

My camera's not great. It's not a cheap point and shoot, but it's pretty hopeless, so there was a lot of editing involved (should have bugged Jay for his professional Nikon -_-) This will also be on my deviantart as well. So nothing too artistic or anything, but I did detail it and hope that you caught all that, though not all of it is pictured (Suicide note under the pills, date circled on calendar and Day of Silence reminder on a post-it note, six harassment notes from classmates)

So I've finally done something with the pills I've had stashed on my desk for this very reason. That's a handful of Seroquel and pain killers, a bit of cold medicine, and the entire bottle of my Remeron. I wanted to have some mood stabilizers in it, but I seemed to have gotten rid of that stuff. Heh. They were the most fun to photograph, so I do have a few more of those than the rest.

I'll be honest, I initially read the title of this thread and retorted a bit. I assumed the images would just be badly posed scenes photographed with a crap camera then chucked on a random image hosting site.

I'm pleased to say that I was very surprised. I think the first three are very good; everything is nicely laid out / organised on the table and the camera angle has been chosen nicely to include all relevant items. The post processing adds a certain mood to the images, gives them a lot more power than basic off-the-camera shots. The last few don't do much for me as there isn't the same level of variety in the shots.

A nice little study.

What I meant is that I feel that the majority of people who post photography on this site don't really seem to put much thought into it but you far succeeded what most on here could do :)
