Ok so for many of you on here who might have seen my posts around the place, i had applied to study photography in the Dublin Institute of Technology and also Dun Laoghaire Art, Design and Technology college.

Well I had to hand in portfolios just over a month ago, and today I received the first letter from DIT with my results.

Unfortunately I was not successful and so I'm quite upset. Photography is my dream, its what I want to do in my future as a career,
Also Dun Laoghaire Art, Design and Technology college is harder to get into then DIT, so i'm pretty upset at the moment.

I have a few photo-shoots coming up of people, and bands, and i possibly have a wedding in July.!

I'm pretty unsure of my path to take now, as I have sort of decided that maybe photography is not for me.. I probably wont take up the camera for a while now..

Anyone know any other way of completing a photography course??

Hi :) I'm from Ireland too *high fives*
Sorry you didn't get in, that must be hard :(
You should consider doing a PLC course. There are tonnes or PLC's in photography and for something in the media like photography it would be a good choice. You have to look them up (I use qualifax.ie) and you have to apply to them in writing, try ask a careers guidance cousellor in your school (if you have one) about what to write in it. Basically you write to them saying why you want the course(double check that, im only 5th year ><) and then they make a deal with you, as long as you get above certain points in the LC, you get it. You probably already know all this if you're already applying to college.

If you manage to get the requirements you have the chance of getting into a CAO course aferwards, but it's very competitive. Many journalists, t.v presenters, authors and radio broadcasters have done PLC's and look where they are now :)

Dublin :D You?
You can take PLC courses at any age. I know they're called Post Leaving Cert courses but it says that you can be a mature student :P You could also try applying to other colleges :P

Oooh cool!
Oh right, I thought mature students was anyone that had already been in college and was going back(I kinda just guessed). Well hopefully you get the other college :) If you get another course and decide to do it you could build up your skill and portfolio and apply for a course when you think they'd accept you. You sound like you have loads of experience though :P
