I think religion is nonsense. I respect people who have their views and would never talk down or bad about it, but why let something that you don't even want to be apart of run you life or even be apart of it? These questions are not directed at you Socko, just who ever is in a situation like your friend. Im just curious why some let things like thing change or alter their lives.

becuze, doushbag they were born into it. now please go f*** yourself

I don't see why you can't opt out of a class or religion you were born into. And calm the hell down, I don't see any reason to get pissy over someone's answer.

I don't mind Mormons as long as this particular Mormon isn't the third person that day to tell me the "good news" about Joseph Smith.

WTF! Why? First time I've heard of Mormons -.-

My Mormon friend gets extremely annoying when it comes to religious debates.

They worship the evil demon most refered as "Christ". They got kewl stories about him. I guess they get annoyed of religious debates because their statements are fucking BS!
"They Believe that Jesus was in the United States at some point in his life and the book of Mormon explains the Bible more comprehensibily, as God revealed additional stuff to Joseph."

WTF!!!! Why would Jesus go to US?

Here are a few things they believe about God

"1. God used to be a man on another planet, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 321; Joseph Smith, Times and Seasons, vol. 5, p. 613-614; Orson Pratt, Journal of Discourses, vol. 2, p. 345; Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p. 333).
2. "The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s..." (D&C 130:22).
3. God is in the form of a man, (Joseph Smith, Journal of Discourses, vol. 6, p. 3).
4. "God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens!!! . . . We have imagined that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea and take away the veil, so that you may see," (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 345).
5. God the Father had a Father, (Joseph Smith, History of the Church, vol. 6, p. 476; Heber C. Kimball, Journal of Discourses, vol. 5, p. 19; Milton Hunter, First Council of the Seventy, Gospel through the Ages, p. 104-105).
6. God resides near a star called Kolob, (Pearl of Great Price, p. 34-35; Mormon Doctrine, p. 428)."

1- Erm wha? He used to be a man? On another planet? :000. How did he turn into a god? How did he move out?
5- Then who was the Father of God? Aliens?
6- He lives near a star? In space? -.- Damn astronauts.

Dude, if you think that's weird look up Nation Of Islam and their view that God will arrive in a UFO on judgement day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nation_of_Islam#The_Mother_Plane_and_Ezekiel.27s_Wheel).

The Mormon story is my absolute favorite of all Religious texts XD but I respect their beliefs as most of em seem to live very happy lives, the ones who don't, well i hope ofr them to find the strength to break away from what they dont wanna be apart of

Everyone believes their own intent is good. That doesn't mean anything.

I have always found Mormons and Quakers, well generally almost all religions that does not worship a Holy Book pointless. One man comes and thinks " This prophet spoke to God on that mountain..." and then says "Guys I ascended to heaven from Rockefeller Center!" and then people start believing this guy...

Ummmm Mormons do have a holy book. Also, you just described all the Abrahamic religions, you realize that, right? All those books are are compilations of what a few people have said about events like that.

If i may set you straight.
yep he is as tangible as us duh. "god created man in his own image" kinda hard to make things without hands.

haha funny thing about aliens ... "enough said" you either believe or you do not, i do and i think they will be just like us (planets without number...kinda silly to make them without life methinks). and if you took the time (you seem to know your references get back to the missionaries and read the BOM) you would understand the plan of salvation and the reward if you live holding the rod.

also yes i remember reading about kolob and having to talk to my bishop about it and we talked for hours about it. i love nasa and astronomy (i currently own two telescopes one long and one short and i was privileged to watch the eclipse) so this one confused me. Kolob is real. time is not the same for our father in heaven as it is for us.

one more thing. I do believe things have yet to be revealed to us. and until they are revealed certain things will remain a mystery like the exact placement of kolob, and face it our tech is not strong enough to even find kolob yet so who knows?

I have faith in my religion. I also have faith in Science. I take both into consideration. please respond intelligently and with out anger to me please.

also LDS.org will help a lot.
