First impressions with the ladies

I'm just curios as to what girls would look at if a guy they've never talked to at school (junior if it matters) came up and started a conversation with them.
I really like a girl who's in two of my classes but I've never talked to her and don't want to ruin my chances with the first things I say to her. Also if anyone has some topics I might be able to use in a situation like this that'd be great because all I could think of was to pretendi didn't get the homework down and ask for it while also introducing myself.

Depends on the girl. You're typical girl will notice physical looks and actions first. Smile, eyes, hair, blah blah blah. Not all girls are the same. You could be the most attractive guy alive and I wouldn't even take a second look if you weren't mature and intelligent, for instance. It's different with everyone.

Surreptitiously study her. Don't make it too obvious, but look around at her bag, what she's holding, clothing, etc. to find out anything about her. Any classes she takes, sports she does, extracurriculars, etc. and find something there you can talk about, then give your own take on. ("You like *insert band here*? I saw them in concert last month!" "You play football? What team/position/whatever? I'm part of the school team." etc.) Compliments always work as well, if you can't think of anything. Hair, eyes, clothes, smile. Regardless of the girl, they'll usually always accept flattery.
