Depends what you're looking for in a camera?

I have the D3100 and it works fine. Consider the Pentax k-x too for the low price it is a total gemI second the K-x, really the best DSLR out there for the price. (:

I had the Canon T1i, but ended up returning it because I just wasn't as satisfied with it as I was with my Pentax.

They're all good cameras.I read about all of them before I made my pick, which was the newer Nikon D7000.But it depends on what you are doing and what you are gonna do with the camera.

I have the Nikon d3100 and it's a love hate relationship. Mainly I bought it because of it's video qualities (which I barely use) It does the job for me as a fashion blogger and it will definitely do a good job all around. I only find the auto-focus to be on the slow side (at times) Also, the so called "video auto-focus" isn't all too sophisticated, having to press the button the whole time and the auto focus sound being caught up in the audio. Audio is also not very good with the d3100 and it sucks even more that you can't do anything about it because it doesnt have external mic. capabilities. The Canon t3 is also quite nice and you can't really go wrong between the two, it's just the choice of families you want to stick with. Canon t3 also has faster auto focus IMO. I haven't tried the nikon d5100 as it was out of my budget

I do not recommend the pentax k-x, yes it's the cheapest but for DSLRS, I would only suggest getting either Nikon or Canon and maybe just maybe a Sony. Be aware that the k-x uses 4 aa batteries. It's a very big pain in the butt to constantly have to replace those batteries.
