Asexuality (No Attraction)

This is one of the simplest sexualities, but it is also one of the hardest to understand. Asexuality is the lack of a sexual orientation and attraction. Asexual actually means not sexual.

It is far more common for young, prepubescent children to be asexual than teens and adults, but it can (and does) affect older individuals. Asexual individuals may still become aroused at times and reason for arousal varies from person to person; generally it's not from a certain sex or a certain sexual act.

Unlike the three common sexualities (homosexuality, heterosexuality, and bisexuality), asexuality is not a common outcome of sexual curiosity. It's not exactly clear why some people become asexual, but one theory is that a bad experience may lead a person to rethink their view on any kind of sexuality. In the long run, most asexual teens and adults find ways to cope with this rare lack of sexuality.
