Default One of my friends has commited suicide

One of my friends has killed themselves, I don't know how to react or think about it, I can't cope with it, I've had horrible nightmares about it ever single night since it happened, every waking moment I obsess over it, I was the person that stopped her from doing something like this before, and the one time I wasn't there to help she actually did it, I feel like a worthless fuck, empty and numb and dead inside.

My names Joe, but you can call me "Lord and master of all space and time"
I'm Bisexual, deal with it
Ask me shit

Your not worthless you stopped her before. You can't be there every minute of the day to watch over a friend.

It wasn't you're fault! You've stopped them in the past like twin said and you can't be there all the time with them. You're an amazing person for doing that in the past.

I apologize for not replying to this earlier. I haven't been keeping up with the H&A side of the forum recently. However, since I still believe this could be taking its toll on you, I will give my advice.

Feeling numb is a common side effect of trauma or traumatic loss, in this case. It makes sense, though, to try and think of the most reasonable and effective reaction that you can have towards this. What is the best thing you can do in response? Well, you immediately can think of a few: Mourn, give respect, etc. These are the common things we are inclined to do.

Along with the aforementioned responses, though, it is important not to lose sight of your confidence. You must stay strong in emotion and thought. So, the reasonable response to trauma would seem to be confident and content mourning.

I'm sorry you had to experience this. While I have never experienced it myself, I can only imagine what kind of traumatic effect it can have.

Best of luck, Joe.

I am so sorry to hear this man. as sad as you understandably are, it is not your fault. you shouldn't blame yourself for this . heart breaking stuff though, I'm truly sorry

My condolences. Please never forget your friend, she was valuable to everyone especially you. Don't take the blame for her death. You aren't worthless, you cared for her and helped her in the past, like a true friend.

hey you!

If I killed myself right now, who's fault would it be?

If I had killed myself I wouldn't want the people that I care for talking any of the blame. I'm ultimately the one who made that last cut, pulled the trigger, tied the rope or jumped.

Understand that it's not your fault and you should not feel guilty. Her depression and death was not caused by you, it was caused by other influences. Something or someone made her depressed, her depression lead her to suicide. She gave up her fight.

You had nothing to do with it, take no blame.
You seem like you were a great friend to her.

Best of luck.

@CosmicNoodle i understand how you feel. I too just learned about one of my class mates who also committed suicide two days ago.

At first i didn't believed it because Angel my class mate and friend was one of the last persons who i would think committe suicide. He was very smart and intelligent, he had a bright future ahead of him.

Now that I'm in bed alone in the dark, is his death now taking affect. His death and the death of your friend serve as a warning sign not just to you or me but to all of us. If you think or even have the slightest thought about someone you know wanting to committe suicide get them help immediately. It doesn't hurt to think, only death hurts.
