Depends on how severe it is (I mean, is it murder?).
Most illegal activities will go unreported though.

It can't really be reported outside of the site, unless Ant reports the IP addy to police or someone like that. Some users do report it to mods, and they will delete the posts if needed. Maya has no idea, so just did the job

If Ant had to report every case of underage sexual activity that gets discussed on here he would end up living in the police station. Drug usage also gets discussed on here too. The site rules prohibit the promotion of illegal activities, but this is a discussion forum, not some elaborate honey trap.

I doubt. We aren't the police or FBI or anything.

I think it'd depend on what the activities were and whether or not the claims are believable in that the content makes it plausible to be true. I'm assuming if someone did murder their family, they wouldn't come on here and blab about it but if the content seemed believable, and possibly if police broadly investigated but found something that supported the claim, then I think this may be used as a confession in a court of law.

On the other hand, if someone said they stole a pack of Smarties from the convenience store, yes it is illegal but I doubt it would get reported from here as it is pretty minor and the person may be caught even without reporting it from here. However, if someone said they stole millions of dollars from a bank robbery, and some of the details showed to be true (i.e. claimed to wear or say something not documented in the news and it was true), then it likely would be investigated if reported. It may serve as a confession in a court of law but also when interrogated, it'd be pretty hard to explain that it wasn't true.

We would have no actual proof besides what somebody has said, so it's very highly unlikely that anything would ever get reported to authorities. If somebody was as bold as to post some sort of sick and twisted video of them committing the crime what was undeniably real, which I don't ever foresee happening, that's the only plausible case I could ever think of reporting.

As said above, if we reported every illegal activity that supposedly went on that's been mentioned, we might as well live in a police station. You just can't police the internet, especially when things can easily be fabricated or over-exaggerated.

The best we can do is urge somebody to come clean of their said crime or urge them to talk to the authorities about some crime that they witnessed or knew about.

So if you care to find me, look to the western sky.
As someone told me lately, everyone deserves a chance to fly.

more than likely, there would be no way to tell wether or not the crime occured. we're not exactly a high priority on the law enforcement's list.

This is also anonymous, which serves as a barrier against reporting

We have IPs which the authorities can basically track anyone down to their internet router.

I sincerely hope not and don't think they do, especially because most cases of illegal activity on here would be based largely upon hearsay, unreliable, and would probably occur in jurisdictions other than the one whose rules this site must follow. Plus, the fact is that this website is intended for discussion, and to report all possibly illegal acts would have a massively chilling effect on the site's intended purpose. That and as said, the admins would be living in the police station.

You are the ground upon which I blizzard.

If someone says they shoplifted when they were 12 I wouldn't report it. Waste of time.

If someone says they are going to kill their neighbor and says their address is 123 Main Street, along with more specific details, I would report it if it seemed valid enough.

If a member is found to be overage and is doing illegal things and putting the site members in danger, I would report it if I had the evidence.

In other words, something would have to be really serious and specific to go to that extreme of getting the police involved. In the 6 years of VT's operation it has never had any contact with law enforcement and I intend to keep it that way.

If it were the case, I reckon most of the people who post in the puberty forums would be in jail by now

No, really - If it were serious enough like murder threats, mass-murder threats, anything really, REALLY bad, it would probably be reported and you'd be tracked down by your computers IP adress. But little things people post of here like underage sex, pornography veiwing and all that aren't really serious enough. If all things like that were reported we'd have fed's running around all over the place.

Ant has already posted, saying almost exactly what he would get law enforcement involved for. You posting exactly the same doesn't help.
