How do I ask? I want him to be my BF.

So there is this guy at school who I eat lunch with every other day and for a while we have been glancing at each other. I'm pretty sure he knows I like him and I think he likes me. Today on our way from lunch I almost had the guts to ask him if he was bi or gay but then I decided not to. I'm planning to do it for real next time but don't know where to ask him or how. On our way to class with so many people around might get him to say no, but it would also seem weird for me to tell him to follow me so I can ask him. I really want to go out with him but need to find out if he is bi/gay first. How can I ask him without telling him I'm bi? (in case he is str8) I'm thinking of saying something like this if he turns out to be str8 "oohh, my friend told me you were bi/gay and I just wanted to see if he was telling the truth" Where do you think I should ask? here are my options:
In the lunch line
At the lunch table
In the bathroom
On our way back to class
While he and I are waiting for our bus after school
The last one is hard to do because I very rarely ride the bus home, now that outdoor track has started.

If any one has done this and seceded or failed PLEASE COMMENT and tell me what you did. I really don't want to mess this up, but I'm not willing to let the school know I'm bi just yet; unless he says yes to go out with me.

It is not a good idea to just come out and ask someone about their sexual orientation. Just start as friends and see where it leads, then when you guys get more comfortable you can ask him about it or just tell him your bi.

I suggest this. First of all, if he's not bi/gay then don't come up with some lie. I HATE lies!!! No one likes a liar, unless lying is the only option you've got to keep someone safe.

I suggest this to everyone (everyone who wants to know someone is gay/bi and be able to ask it innocently). You should start with a some game where you get to ask eachother questions. (Truth or Dare is a good one). Start with innocent questions, then move on to more personal questions. Eventually, ask him about his sexuality. This way, it'll appear that you were just innocently asking, otherwise you would've asked right away.

Well first of all, if your not really close friends with him then try to become closer friends and have a better friendship before you start asking them out. It would definitely be awkward if he was gay or bi and you just randomly asked about it since if you guys aren't really that close of friends.

Once you guys become closer friends, try inviting him over like Skeln said and maybe trying truth or dare to find it but don't push him for answers. If he is gay or bi and you guys are really good friends, you have a better chance of him actually just TELLING you that he is and then you could maybe tell him that you had feelings for him and maybe you guys could have a relationship.

After reading the responses I decided to abort my plans and, like you all said, become better friends with him. I am going to try and casually ask him 4 his cell number since he is constantly texting some one. What do you all think?

YES!, txting is good make sure it isnt werid though like uhhh yea can i have you cell phone number just become better friends and think of some way to get his number be like yea hey i can txt you later if thats cool want my number?

it wont be wierd people i dont even talk to ask for my cell phone number, so just ask him for it and he might give it to you.

Good. Find a place where you both hang out with each other most days, and start having good conversations with him.
This way, the relationship between him and you will be based on talking about things. Hence, you can just drop the whole 'homo' subject in one day (when you're pretty good friends) and ask him if he hasn't told you already.

That way, even if he is straight, you've still got a good friend.
