Default My therapist think's I'm schizophrenic

Well, I don't think I am Schizophrenic, but my therapist seems to think it's a possibility. I'm not looking for advice, I just want to rant.

For about 2 years I have had very mind auditory hallucinations, occasionally hearing voices, quiet ones, that will often dictate a situation as it happens "the door is opening" ect ect. But since Tuesday 2 weeks ago (when I got extremely drunk and high) the voices have been getting a LOT louder and a LOT more common, I now hear them almost every day, multiple times a day, telling me to do things, sometimes hurting myself, often telling me to hurt or even kill others, but mostly they will just dictate a situation as it happens. So ye, I got extremely drunk, very, very high, and now the voices have got a lot, lot worse. I seem to have broken my mind somehow.
And for fuck sake do the voices get on my wick, I don't care that they are there, I've got used to them being there, I just wish they would make fucking sense, one second they are dictating happily, next moment they are shouting at me angrily telling me to cut myself, and to hurt people. Why can't they just be consistent! That's all I wan't, I don't care if they are there, just make them consistent!
And I haven'y been able to tell my new therapist, my old one, Dr Chick knows about it, but my new therapist, Dr B doesn't understand because every time I've gone to see him lately, my mother has insisted on being in the room with us, and I can't let her know, so I'm on my own! Arrrgghaa!

Ye, that's about it, small rant.

I know your not looking for advice, but if you don't think so, get another opinion.

Wait, if you haven't been able to tell your therapist, how does he think you're schizophrenic?

Ahh, should have mentioned that, I recently started CBT, my old therapist, Dr Chick, knows about my situation, but my new one for CBT, Mr (forgot his name, begins with a B) doesn't know.
Understand? (I think I'll edit my thread to make actual sense.)

Well a therapist and CBT are a good direction to take. I had CBT and it helped me in a lot of areas. I was diagnosed mildly schizophrenic like a couple of years ago.

Thing is, if you hear voices, especially like you've described, you probably do.

I do, and I have an overruled schizophrenia diagnosis. However, for me, they seem to be either seizure or mania-related, so I'm probably not. However, you don't have either of those problems...Correct?

I'm not trying to shove it down your throat, just thought I'd put that out there

Nope, my voices are not seizure or mania related, they are just ambient voices at random times.

That usually means schizophrenia, Schizoaffective, maybe a tumor or aneurism, something like that.

Tbh given the options, I'd almost rather be schizophrenic.

Honestly I'm not even remotely reliable for advice on this kind of thing, but I don't know about schizofrenia. It seems a lot of things that can happen to people under stress or anxiety become similar to schizofrenia, I mean, ugh I can't really explain it properly.

I don't know about you, if you always have it it might be schixofrenia/schizoaffective, but for me, I definetly tend to hear and see things that aren't there when I'm under a lot of stress or very anxious.
Usualy is't just voices, or people walking around even though I can't see them, or seeing someone's face somewhere.

Lack of sleep (combined to anxiety and paranoia) can also cause that, I happened to have auditory hallucinations before when I spent many days without sleep.
Of course, if it's happening even when you're well rested then it must not be the cause. The brain can be very tricky for sure.

My counselor at my sessions is tempted to diagnose me with schizophrenia, but she isn't exactly sure, and I'll probably be sent to another psychiatric unit for another month. :/
