I didn't read the whole thing yet, but what struck me was the thing about sagging. Bras actually do prevent breasts from sagging. For example, you can compare breasts of women from african tribes, who have never seen a bra, and those of european or american girls of similar age. Also, I have another myth: Bra sizes are interchangable. Many shop assistants say that for example 36D is the same as 30G, which is NOT the case. 36D is actually meant for girls with big ribcages, and slightly prominent breasts, while 30G is for petite girls with quite big breasts. Also, there's this myth that D cups are big. And it is caused by misinformation. Yes, B-cups are not small either, however, most girls who wear 38D, should actually be wearing 34F or something similar.

Actually, that's due to the fact that the ligaments are not being stretched. Most American/etc girls wear bras a lot, so the illusion of perkiness is indeed there, but over time, the ligaments break down from not doing their job and you get saggy boobs.
Really, in the end, you get saggy boobs anyways.

Great post! Really informative and well-written!

I would PM you but don't have enough posts yet, but if you don't mind I'd like to suggest some other myths that I've heard before? I found some references

Myth: Wearing a bra to sleep will stunt breast growth
kidshealth.org/teen/expert/sleep/bra_sleep.html

Myth: Some men are too big for condoms
Myth: It is safer to wear two condoms

@Karkat

I'd add one thing though. Lots of people mistakenly think that they are "too big for condoms", period, due to condom availability. Some people are indeed "too big" to wear male condoms that are readily available at schools/drugstores/etc. comfortably. You may be thinking, but a condom can fit on my arm! Of course it can fit on his magic wand as well! Well, for starters, I'd say personally as well, penises are a bit more sensitive than an arm, or a foot, or an inanimate object, yeah? And, if they can fit, why don't we all wear the smallest condoms?

In the US, sale of condoms measuring over 57mm in nominal width, (which I'll discuss later) is prohibited. That puts it at roughly 10+ million teens/men in the US who can't comfortably wear a readily available condom. For these people, they need either a female condom if their partner is female, or larger condoms if their partner can't use the former or isn't comfortable with the other option, which are only available online (Amazon, other sellers), which is an issue because most don't know about either or both. (Anyone over 5.5in girth, regardless of length, need special condoms.) Most who believe they're too big or don't like to use them probably because they're uncomfortable, or constricting to the point of pain, or losing their erection.

Also, "nominal width" is a pointless industry term for the condom's width when laid totally flat.

I think a real myth would be that length matters. I mean, most people I assume, are proportionately endowed, but most condoms are long enough to accommodate even the largest penises. Girth is matters the most.

I'd blame this most on condom marketing and sex ed. Fun fact for those who don't already know: "Magnums" aren't all that big. Magnums are actually designed for most men to be able to fit in them. Magnum XL's are only that much larger as well, most of the change being in the top of the condom, seeing as I mentioned before, there's a size limit in the US. I think sex ed is partly to blame as well because they teach the "any condom will and must fit" rhetoric. They fail to acknowledge ten, probably more, million people's existence. There's probably tens of thousands of kids in class have no idea what they're on about because they feel pain when putting on any old condom, but they're not gonna get anywhere talking to his teacher, are they?

I for one, if I didn't have the internet with me, would have been very confused as to what they were teaching me in sex ed. Now, would say I'm definitely above average, but I'm not THAT well endowed, either. First time I tried on a "regular" condom, acquired from my school's clinic, I felt irritation, as it was indenting in on the sides of my penis. I was able to get some 57mm's though, and I feel much better. Obviously I'm not on the level that some may be to have to order larger condoms but I don't doubt there are hundreds of thousands of kids feeling the same exact way. How would you feel, if your teacher, who I generally would think you should trust, were to tell you that the condom must fit?

Just thought I'd leave that as food for thought.

Maybe another myth to add could be that penis size is drastically different based on race or ethnicity, as I see lots of damaging jokes and discrim. flying around based on that.

edit: Also, "regular" condoms have quite some variance to them. They can range from 52-54mm depending on brand.
edit2: As a growing teen as well, can't imagine what kind of troubles I/some might run into in the future, if I/they already face issues with condoms now. (especially if not properly educated on condoms and sizing.)

its ok to laugh at these, they are some that i truly believed when 9-10 when i started developing. I didn't believe them all at the same time.

- only married people could make a baby.
- the only reason people have sex is to make a baby.
- a girl could get pregnant by kissing
- sex makes a girl develop faster and grow bigger boobs
- having pubs means a girl is mature enough to have sex
- while having sex mature guys can control when they release while inside a girl
- the reason why a guy releases while inside a girl is because he wants to get her pregnant.
- girls don't experience the big-O, only guys. WOW, was I wrong about that...lol
- boys don't grow pubs until after they are 13.
- boys know more about sex than girls.
- having sex before getting married is not real sex, it's 'practice sex'.
- boys only want to have sex with a girl they want to marry.

these are things i wrote in my diary. pretty silly ideas. seems like a million years go.
