Default Making conversation

I realized over this holidays with all the family gatherings and events, that I am much more comfortable talking to people older than me rather than talking to people my age (teens), with pre-teens and single digit ages I can also make conversations.

I find really exciting that I can make conversation with older people maybe cause I'm starting to experience bits and pieces of adult life (though adulting suuucks).

While talking to other people around my age seems a little awkward a first because I don't really know what to say that we can both relate to, or what if they didn't get my puns or jokes if I make one in a middle of a conversation. It's not that I don't like socializing at all it's just that I can be super awkward and I end up not talking because I'm scared it might end up like that.

Does anyone here feel the same or?

it's ya boi artful
i'd like to talk n' stuff

Yeah its awkward trying to talk
to adults from the beginning but
usually either some enjoy what a
younger person has to comment
on or some find a younger person
childish. A good way to start some
good conversation is to ask an adult
what their opinion is on a subject.
Usually u r paying them attention
and they like to talk.

Partially - maybe.

My sibs and I were brought up from the beginning as if we were adults. Therefore, we always met adults at eye level (not literally obviously) and expected them to be taken seriously, which wasn't a problem with our parents, relatives and friends of the family.

But already in the families of our same age friends. Most of their parents didn't even think to deal with me on an equal level, which is why I didn't like the parents of my pals very much until I turned 14. In a figurative sense, I've always been a grown-up among adults, but a kid among kids or a teen among teens. You got the pic.

I guess I am lucky. I have no problem talking to people of any age. Maybe it's cause I have been working as a waiter for 3 years and have gotten accustomed to talking to and dealing with people of all ages.

I am gay and happy with that.
I love talking to people very open & willing to listen.
I am also glad to try help with questions or problems.
Hit me up for anything. I promise I don't bite.

I'm kinda like that. I had no siblings until I was 13 so I learned to socialize with adults from a young age.
