Default Drugs for bipolar

Hi,
I have bipolar - rapid changing.
So my mood is a bit unstable.
I've tried many drugs, but I still cannot find what is the best drug for me. For know, the drug I am using is Carbamazepine and Haloperidol combination. But my mood is not entirely stable right now.
I just wanna know what are everybody using now and does it help?

This would really interesting to hear what kind of meds others have. I had quite a few and nothing really worked. The drugs either don’t do a thing or make me feel like a zombie. Therefore I'm without medication at the moment but this is quite dangerous and won't work out in the long run.

My other experience with Valproate makes me a zombie, even with the lowest dose.
Phenytoin does not work for me.
Carbamazepine does not calm me like Valproate does, but it does the job. Combined with Haloperidol, it's even better. But still not really controllable.

I take lamictal right now. It's pretty good because it doesn't completely zombify you... However I've noticed while doing my hair, it's falling out more noticeably. I'm not going balled or anything... but if that is the only "bad" side effect i'm okay with it. Don't forget, you have to stay on medications for a while. That's the only way you will see if side effects go away. I've been dealing with this stuff since I was 8 years old (I know, bipolar at 8 smh) but that experience has given me a lot of insight. I would tell the doctor you are having these issues and just see what they say.

I almost forgot to mention... You really can't determine what medication is best for you based on what works best for others. I know some things worked better for other people and the stuff I take didn't work for someone else. While it is sometimes good to get input, it's primarily trial and error until you find something that works for you. Believe me, it takes time... The work between you and your doctor will pay off though. I was quite hopeless for a while. I'm proof that it is true (I've been on almost all of the bipolar meds, it just ended up being a specific combination of things that worked best for me) Best of luck! Hopefully it doesn't take too long for you!
