Personally I think it's a bad idea and in the long run could be harmful to you and your development. Also, don't forget that males develop slower, and aren't fully 100% mature until well into their 20's (i.e 22,23 etc..) So I wouldn't do that personally bro.

We have actually covered this in school. Weed doesn't affect adults like it does teenagers. In teenagers, growth and puberty can be stunted cause it reduces growth hormones.

By 18, I would assume you a getting close to being done growing, so it wouldn't be a massive impact. Your brain does still grow until around 25 tho, and smoking can be slightly detrimental to that

Weed definitely causes brain degeneration when used in teenagers. It primarily affect the brain, though it also indirectly affects your physicality via messing up growth hormones. Studies have even suggested that weed can cause brain degeneration into adulthood, so I would be careful with it.

I really wouldn't smoke weed as a teenager since it will give you health issues.

I personally never smoked weed myself but was exposed to second hand smoking of it a great deal. According to my doctor this affected my growth and development to some extent. Pubertywise that means I am by far not yet in the stage I should be in at my age.

@bastile23

Check this out: https://www.drugabuse.gov/publicatio...acts/marijuana

Scroll down to "Long-term effects" section (in bold letters) and read both that section and the sections that follow in order to get a better idea as to the health effect of marijuana.

If you smoke it, then it may have some similar problems to tobacco smoking, which is one of the deadliest drugs used in the United States, killing almost half a million people in the country every year according to the CDC (https://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/data_sta...acts/index.htm).

Generally, it is agreed upon in the scientific community that using marijuana in your teen years can have long-lasting effects on memory and general cognitive development. A study found that about age 25-30--usually the point at which brain development begins to level out and slow down--is when it becomes pretty safe to use marijuana:

Quote:
The study adds to a growing collection of evidence that marijuana alters the young brain, just as more parts of the U.S. are decriminalizing the drug and more young people are using it. Current research indicates the brain doesn’t reach maturity until age 25 or 30, and people should hold off heavy pot use before then, said Francesca Filbey, who co-authored the study.
Source: http://www.thecannabist.co/2014/11/1...n-study/23251/

TLDR: Just use smartly (aka not by inhaling smoke) and at a safe age (>25-30), and you'll be fine.

Smoking pot once won't adversely affect you, smoking it often can at your age

At your age I wouldnt worry much about it tbh. If you were like 13-15ish it would be a different story. As mentioned above though, it would be best to just take it easy.
Like special occasions, just a few tokes here and there, etc.

It is illegal where I live but obviously many people still do it. My oldest cousin got some once and offered me some. I coughed so much he didn't give me any more. I would be in huge trouble if anyone found out so for that reason I haven't experimented further.

There wouldn't be any harmful effects showing up. You could maybe experience some mild short-term memory loss, but that happens if you smoke like all the time. Marijuana doesn't mess with a developing brain in the same way as alcohol does (Alcohol affects the frontal lobe which is responsible for decision-making.
