There are various laws regarding homeschool. Most of Europe has some stringent laws regarding it, so it is rare in Europe. In the USA, homeschool laws are according to the state, and most states have laxer regulations when it comes to homeschool, which is why it is more common in the USA.

Regarding your questions, there are various different ways kids can be taught in homeschool. Typically homeschool students self-learn, in the sense that they teach theirselves material via books, videos, websites, and so on. There are curriculums based entirely around such learning.

As for your second question, homeschooler's must still abide by universal state standards for student schooling. States can evaluate whether the state is abiding by those standards in different ways. For example, in North Carolina, homeschoolers are required to take an annual test, and submit it to the state board of non-public education, to show that the student is equivalent of others in their grade.

This could potentially be an interesting discussion. If you want to discuss this more, feel free to create a new thread. I don't want to get this thread off-topic.

I would have enjoyed homeschooling if I'd known way back when what I know now. For instance, I know now that I likely wouldn't have been made socially inept by homeschooling as many (including my mom) claimed so long as I had participated in city activities (going to the YMCA, playing city league sports, or even participating in school clubs as that is allowed for homeschoolers). Furthermore, I now know that my high school education is mostly comprised of worthless knowledge that I quite simply won't need in the real world. If I had homeschooled, I would have had time as well as motivation to teach myself practical skills. The public school system breeds machines and I have largely fallen victim to that.

I graduated high school last year. My boyfriend and I are both going to go to a culinary school to become chefs. We have decided to wait one year and work at the full time jobs we have now to save up enough money to help pay for living expenses and so forth.

I am gay and happy with that.
I love talking to people very open & willing to listen.
I am also glad to try help with questions or problems.
Hit me up for anything. I promise I don't bite.

I am homeschooled and am 2 grades ahead of my friends who go to public school. I like it because I can stay up late and sleep later in the morning. Our lessons are about 20% online and 80% from books. Where I live about 35% are homeschooled which has put a financial burden on public schools so they have open enrollment meaning you can send your kids to any school even if it isn't in your district. The best schools now have waiting lists for students.

I go to plain old public school. A very judgemental one. A very, very strict one that hates individuality.

Happy to answer anyone's questions!

I went to a normal public school from K-8. But then I went to a high school that does IB curriculum exclusively. It is still public and is funded by the county and composed of students from the county.

Started at an International private (English) school for K-3rd grade.
4-8th I went to a US Private School, 4-6 in a Co/Ed lower school 6-8 in Single Sex Upper school,

LowerSchool was K4-6 grades , UpperSchool was 6-12 grades
(6th graders did two days a week at upper school 1st half of year, three days a week at upper school 2nd half of year)

There were two upper school a few miles apart one for guys, other for girls,

Dad let me pick my HighSchool when we moved last year I selected a Public 9-12 high school.

Wanted friends that lived near me, in private school all my friends were all over the county, so just going to hang with someone required be driven over, no just meeting up to hang.

I've been in public schools my whole life. But I like that, it means you meet truly different groups of people. Or at least where I live, lol.

Now I go to a community college, which is, of course, public.

I go to a tech school, too. My program is called "electrical engineering & computer science", but once you finish it you have the "electrical engineering technician" degree.

I also finished elementary music school (6 year program) a couple of years ago.

Pretty nifty!

A sucker for jazz - take me to a nice place with live jazz music and I'm sold
