Default Selfharm equals Cutting?

I was just wondering something.
When I read the self-harm section on the forums here everybody just talks almost exclusively about cutting themselves.
Makes me wonder. I had been in tons of psychatric treatment stuff and met quite a few self-harmer and the majority there was cutting, too.
Me, I used to cut sometimes but stopped this about a year ago completely.

Now my method is mainly burning myself. It's less messy since there's no blood. Burns can also be explained more easily than cuts. I get scolded for buring cuz I'm always told it can get far more easily infected when there are blisters but yeah.
Apart from that when I'm mad about myself or anything like that I scratch myself bloody and litterally beat myself up. Hurting myself with my fists to the extent that I have bumps and bruises.

I feel stupid for doing this and hardly talk to it when I am forced in some sort of therapy as I am again at the moment. I am doing group sessions with cutters and feel like the odd one out.

Cutting is a type of self-harm. Self-harm includes any activity, physical or mental, meant to cause oneself injury of any kind.

itz like a square and a rectangle a square=rectangle, but not vis versa, cutting=self harm, but self harm ia not only cutting

"Fire, by that definition, is vibrantly alive. It eats everything from wood to flesh, excreting the waste as ash, and it breathes air just like a human, taking in oxygen and emitting carbon. Fire grows, and as it spreads, it creates new fires that spread out and make new fires of their own."

Yeah sure but still all the people I know and deal with are all cutting and make me feel odd.

You've got to remember, cutting is the most common form of self harm, it's the most publicised and most talked about in the self harm world. That doesn't mean that that's the only method, there are plenty and there are plenty of people who use those different methods. As it's not as socially recognised to burn or punch or anything else like, people tend not to use that as a method. I used to and sometimes I still do use the lesser known methods, it's a lot cleaner than cutting is. I wouldn't say you were odd or anything for it.
