Default What's your job like?

I know there's a thread talking about your job title and where you work. But I'm more curious to know what you -do- at your job!

I work at (allegedly) one of the busiest Walgreens drugstores in the SF Peninsula, even rivaling some San Francisco stores for traffic and sales. We made over $55,000 in sales on 12/23, Walgreens busiest day of the year, top in our district! For those who don't know what a Walgreens is, it's the same class of store as Boots (actually owned by Walgreens!), CVS, Rite Aid, Duane Reade, etc.

My title is Customer Service Associate (CSA), which means that I basically float between all the departments except Pharmacy. I stock my department, I stock other peoples departments, help with our literal cart-ful of go-backs/returns, ring in the front, respond to backup calls when the lines get long, order for my department when I'm out of something for whatever reason.
I also specialize in our photo department, which yes, is also the busiest in our district I know how to print orders, make posters, calender's, and magnets, do passport photos, and maintain the equipment. I usually just cover the main Photo techs break or respond to backup, but sometimes I run the department when they're off for the day.

Well, since you're interested in knowing people's jobs let's do it!

I'm in the United States Military, Department of the Air Force to be exact. My Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) is "3P0X1" Security Forces Specialist. It's a pretty rewarding and demanding career, but my enlistment ends shortly, but enough about me and more about the job!

Security Forces is the Air Forces version of Military Police and light-infantry specializing in Force Protection and Law Enforcement. What are those may ask?!

Force Protection is protecting resources or people from outsider/insider threats with fast response times anywhere in or around the installation! Protecting missiles, fighter jets, manning military base gates. etc.

Law Enforcement is a pretty simple one; I'm going just assume everyone know's what a police officer is haha.

If you need someone to talk to or even ask questions to, I've been there done that. Don't be afraid to hit me up.

The truth hurts, get over it.

I work part-time in an international clothing store. I mostly be on the till and help customers, but can also be in the storeroom/stockroom belonging out new stock and replenishing old stock. I also am a team coach and help train new members of staff. Sale preparation and stocktaking are also seasonal aspects of the job, only a few times each year. Mostly though I try and not lash out at customers lol.

If i agreed with you, then we would both be wrong

Sweet dreams are made of cheese, who am I to dis a brie?

I work as a sales associate for Wal-Mart. Our store is the only Super Walmart in the district that isn't opened 24 hours. This is mostly due to being understaffed.

I work in four different departments which are Stationary, Celebrations, Fabrics, and Crafts. A typical work day includes stocking all of my departments, organizing shelves, and cutting fabrics for customers. I'm usually pulled to work in another department as well sometime throughout my shift.

I am an associate account manager in a growing CPA firm while going to university. I work with managers on specific accounts reviewing, analyzing, and suggesting actions to be taken to strengthen the client's business interests. I am the principal on one account that the owner of the company mentors me on. I find the work fascinating and very much enjoy the interaction with managers and clients. I particularly enjoy working on agriculture accounts. My career goal is to become the manager of large cattle operations.

I'm working with Cricket Wireless.
I'm working in a franchise of 3 stores. There's plenty more out there, but we have a small team operating and working at three separate locations. At the store I work at we have a team of three guys.
We all do a bit of everything. Dealing with inventory, merchandising, cleaning, working at the registers. We all do everything. I am a sales associate like the rest, although I am currently working at the store manager due to the fact I have worked here longest and have the most experience. Me and the rest do anything and everything at this store.

Wow, I just realized that my job at OfficeMax is very similar to your job at Walgreens. My job title is "Customer Serivce Supervisor" I'm not the big boss by any means, but I do actually have authority in some ways. They trust me to open and close the store. Anyways, I do a lot of restocking of stuff that was returned. (we call it called "re-shop") Whenever there's a line, I'm asked to go to the front to help ring. I also do the same thing for the print center we have built-in. So yeah, even though you work at a drug store, and I work at an office supply store, I'd say our jobs are pretty similar. The only difference is that even though it's a rather large store, there are no departments outside of the print center and retail. Furniture, technology, supplies, etc. are all the same department.

I am working in my uncles law firm as an office clerk and messenger.

I do a little bit of everything around the office; answer phones, filing, data processing, faxing, envelope stuffing and mailing, message delivery, running errands, sorting incoming mail and much more.

as a messenger, I pick up and drop off legal documents to other attorneys offices and the courts.

Default Re: What's your job like?

I have two jobs, so I'll break them apart here.

My first job is with Food Lion, where I've been for almost 2 years now. I am currently the Assistant Produce Manager, a title I worked very hard to achieve. My regular duties include stocking the department floor, ordering product, reviewing inventory counts, scanning out bad product, setting merchandising plans, building merchandising displays as needed, unloading and downstacking perishable trucks, reviewing sales figures and seeking to improve them, working with corporate personnel who visit the store from time to time, helping the department manager to ensure we make labor every week and avoid violations, and occasionally attending in-store meetings or conference calls regarding new brand-wide initiatives. Though produce is my main job, I am also fully trained to do the grocery, frozen food/dairy, meat/market, and front end departments, making me one of the most diverse employees in the store. I regularly assist all of these departments if time permits, most often grocery, where I spent several months at one point.

My other job is my dad's side business, which involves inspecting and repairing alternative septic systems. It's highly specialized; we have a list of criteria that must be met for each system to pass inspection, and often we must do repairs to various parts of these systems, which requires a range of skills from electrical to construction. Aside from performing the inspections and repairs themselves, we have to file individual reports for each system we do with the department of health, some systems require quarterly testing of contents which must be sent to specialized labs, I regularly research/price/purchase materials for repairs, draw up estimates, maintain business financial records, schedule inspection and repair dates, and maintain our website and advertising. Dad and I work interchangeably on much of these tasks, we both do them all from time to time.
