Default Is THIS OCD!?

i don't know if this is odd or what is it?! :
When I write something down on a peice of paper, I find that my notes have to be absolutely PERFECT and my handwriting as well. It could be school work or just something that I'm writing at home.

If it's not, then no matter how unimportant what ever I'm writing is, if it looks messy in any way, I write it out again and throw the old version in the bin.
Somehow, seeing a crossing out on the page or even a little scribble or stupid doodle makes me really angry like I want to rip the whole thing up.

I also HAVE to be on time for EVERYTHING and if I'm not then I get very anxious and nervous. My friends don't understand because the teachers don't really care if we are 30seconds- 1min late to class but I do. (I guess you're thinking that it's not not such a bad thing to want to be on time for everything but I feel like it is)

I am also recovering from anorexia and I seem to remember when I was at its worst, all food portions had to be perfect. My body also had to be perfect. (I don't have that problem anymore though). Could it be related?

If ever my friends mention OCD, they talk about obsessively washing hands and making sure everything is clean before touching it. I don't have this problem in any way.

Please, someone help me and maybe give some advice on what I can do to stop getting so anxious when things don't always go right. I'd really appreciate it!

OCD can have many different forms and I don't even think a lot of them involve obsessessly washing hands. I'm not going to be able to diagnose you by any means, I have no experience whatsoever with OCD. The first thing you say, about the handwriting - that could just be part of a perfectionist personality. I wouldn't say it's a bad thing. The second thing may just be a form of anxiety, if you're late you may look silly or something like that. Then the third, the food portions, I'm pretty sure that is just all part of anorexia, although I could be wrong.

Despite anything I've said, if you really want a true opinion then go to see a doctor. They'll obviously know about symptoms and stuff of any mental disorder better than I will.

Nothing will be waiting for you at the end of this life.

The first two could just be extreme perfectionism and punctuality. The third one, tho, that might be OCD. Still I'd do what Abhorrence says and ask a specialist. They'll know more than most of us here.

Just a chilling teen that hates baths, collects Yugioh cards and loves Runescape

Hi Hazelteen.

first of all, i just want to say that how you feel is completely fine. Secondly just a note, OCD is not some scary buggy man which jumps out of the closet for no reason. (Albeit that's how it is defined in the sphere of the public eye). OCD is simply a behavioral pattern that is rather widely experienced and can make it difficult for some people to function, that's why it has been classified as disorder, nothing more.
A most experienced form of OCD include the O and the C. Obsessive thoughts, aka intrusive thoughts which you do not want to be thinking but cannot remove from your head. And compulsions, aka actions which you repeatedly perform in order to cope with the intrusive thoughts.
What you are experiencing seems to be compulsions, which are likely prevailed by certain mild obsessions. For example a compulsion may be walking only on smooth pavement, this would be due to an obsession that walking on the different sort of pavement will produce a sink hole. ( Not very logical is it?)

I myslef have went through rather a severe form of OCD (with extensive compulsive rituals), it lasted for several years. But i never looked at my OCD experience as something negative. It simply started due to how i was viewing the world and ended due to me learning to look at the world differently.

Hopefully this proves useful at least a bit. If you have any questions please ask!

It seems more like a personality disorder to me. I am long-term sufferer from OCD and if you are constantly stressing and worrying about correct handwriting and going through hundreds of pieces of paper every day it would be OCD.

Also. A professional, licensed psychiatrist can diagnose you. A bunch of amateur teenagers on a web-forum can not however.

My cousin used to have that problem, but it wasn't his OCD. It was his mother's OCD. She threw away every paper which wasn't perfect and once they had to buy a new notebook!
