Question blacking out

hey guys...
so last night i was upset that my boyfriend went away..and i had been crying. and the last thing i remembered was i holding a blade looking at it.. debating really if i should cut myself.... so soothe myself.. as i cut to soothe myself when i am upset...
now lately i have been doing very well..
but last night i cried so much,, i was writing in my journal about how shitty i felt and i blacked out....

when i came out of my haze.. i found myself cutting...
it was too late to stop.. as there were already several..

this has happened before.. when i black out and cut
how can i make it stop?

I agree with Doc Crane, get rid of anything that you could use to harm yourself with. Don't worry, it will get better and get easier. Just keep all sharp objects away from yourself.

"When we cut, we're in control - we make our own pain and we can stop it whenever we want. Physical pain relieves mental anguish. For a brief moment, the pain of cutting is the only thing in the cutter's mind, and when that stops and the other comes back, it is weaker."

I actually don't agree with this, if you take away the knife it CAN lead to the person searching for other ways to self harm, some of which can be more dangerous than using a razor or knife that the person is used to and is clean.

Prevention techniques are the best, try the 15 minute rule that works well for me or find something to distract you.
