Friend is Cutting Again

I'm not sure if this should go in the friends and family or self harm places so im just putting it here.

So I have this friend who I'm not specifically close with but we talk a lot, recently I just found out that she's been cutting herself, and aparently she's done it before. When I found out I was really quiet because I wasnt sure how to respond. She really doesnt seem to be the type of person to cut herself but...
She acts like it's not a big deal so maybe I shouldn't get into it but, I care about my friends, she qualifies as my friend and I dont want her to be in that kind of situation with self-harming.
I have a pretty good grasp on why she's started again. Her mom was being a bitch and something happened(she didn't specify as to what) now her mom wants to send her to a special school for "depressed" people or something like that.
Maybe none of this is any of my buisness to get involved in, but I feel that it's somehow my responsibility to help her..

You said you guys aren't close but you talk
Isn't there something you could do maybe try and talk to her mother and get her side of te story let her mom know your worried about her because she been self harming
Or maybe try talking to one of her friends and get them to talk to her about it have then express how concerned you are.... Or you could get a school guidance counsellor involved although your friend might get pissed about you involving others in her personal business. Try and reach out to her let her know your there for her to support her and see what she says. Hopefully she will appreciate how you are feelings and will let you in to her personal life an what's causing her to actually cut.

It's a hard situation. I'd say that unless you talk with her about it, dont get involved.
