you can't. you can edit them out though.

or if it's really annoying, report it and ask for it to be deleted, and it might be, due to a moderators descresion.

You can edit posts, but you can't delete them. You could ask a mod, to and they'll decide if they think it's necessary.

Click the report button() next to the post you want deleted, and fill in as reason "delete please", or something like that.
A moderator will then delete that post or thread, if we feel that it will not make a hole in the thread.

Not trying to speak out of tone here, but why can't we just get a delete button? It would make life SOOO much easier.

And really couldn't people just post things against the rules for others to see and then remove them before a moderator saw.

I'd like to think that myself and the other mods would see it, but I see what you're getting at. Personally, I don't know where I stand on this issue. There are some legitimate uses for a delete button but then again there is always the possibility of abuse.

Stop, that tickles!

What about a 'soft' deletion? So, the button says delete, but what really happens is that it replaces all the text in the box with "This post has been deleted by (username).", that could work maybe. Admins and Mods could do a reverse search to see what the text said before hand, since they would know because of the "This post..." text that will come up. It could also remove the reputation and edit buttons too?

To be honest, giving you guys a soft delete option is a terrible idea. It would be ideal if every post made was seen, but that's not always the case. Lets say you say some really nasty things, ask to cam, or break other rules, then soft delete it so it doesn't get reported, but a moderator doesn't get to see it because the thread just got overlooked or the thread died down, then you're getting away with breaking the rules.

If you want something gone, report it. Simple as that.

It's really not that big a deal. If you want a post deleted, report it. You shouldn't need to delete your posts so much to the point where you need a delete button. Worst case scenario and you want your post not there anymore immediately, just edit it to "........" and then report it.

Unlikely, but yeah I see how it could be abused. Thanks for feedback.

I was just curious. While we're on the subject of controversial topics, would it also be possible to have some sort of privacy settings like Facebook has? Currently we don't have any way that I know of to restrict information.

Uh?

As the Americans say: You owe me five bucks.
It's sitting there, right there in your User CP, with the nice title "Profile Privacy".

If you go to the user CP you'll find profile privacy. Here you can limit who sees your information, so yes, we do have a privacy setting to restrict this information.

Edit: double ninja'd...

I don't think a member delete of any kind, is a good idea because it can be used to delete evidence, making admins and g-mods job in investigating more cumbersome and annoying.

But, as everyone has said, report the post and say something along the lines of "delete please" or "request delete by op".

that wouldn't work either, in case a lot of posts we made, although if it doesn't have any replies at all that would be okay. but pretty sure it might get abused too, so it's better to still report
