Default &&She cried, of acceptance.

I went to the mall! =D
So...There's more to that adventure. Trust me.
My friend Tosha and I went to the mall to have her phone looked at by verizon. We decided to sit down for a little bit in the Food Court, and as we did i noticed a woman around 19 sitting by herself and looking upset. I got up and asked if I could sit by her, she said yes. I then asked her if she was upset and if so, why. She started telling me about how she was just released from a Mental Hospital, she tried to slit her wrists and end her life, because of this her family disowned her and kicked her out. They called her worthless, pathetic and useless. She said before attempting suicide she used to cut frequently. I asked her if I could see the scars. She lifted her longsleeve and multiple bracelets to reveal her scars, the one thing she was trying to hide. I took her wrist and started tracing her scars with my finger and I told her "I used to cut..A lot. I tried to hide the scars, but someone very special made me understand I'm worth more than the damage I was causing myself. It was after that, I no longer hid my scars. I wore them proudly. I was struggling but I made it through. It's now I understand that they're a sign I was strong enough to fight and make it through. To me..It looks like you have been fighting for a long time, and it looks like you've made it past your battles."
Unexpected, she hugged me. Clutching onto me and started crying. She told me that I'm the first person to not make fun of or criticize her for her mistakes, and that I was a very caring person. She promised me from there on she wouldn't cut anymore. I gave her my cellphone number to call incase she needed to talk at anytime. She still crying slightly, she thanked me and hugged me again.
I can honestly say, I feel great. I changed a life for the better, and made someone accept themselves and their mistakes.

I would never have the guts to go up to someone random in public Tyger D:

That was an amazing and inspiring thing to do.

And this is how the tale begins.
Its your life, exist and wonder why.

It only fails to work sometimes

That's honestly amazing, it makes me smile thinking there are people like you in the world willing to go up to a random stranger and try to help. Don't lose that about yourself

I know this is a major thread bump, but please forgive me.

I wanted to update everyone, I still talk to Hilary(girl mentioned in the story), and she no longer cuts. July 3rd 2012 was the last time she cut. She is now a branch manager at a bank, and has a tattoo of vines with flowers coming out of her scars.

So happy for her. It's nice to know there are still ppl that shine in this dark world.

Know you are the type of woman who is searching for a place to call yours.
You have always been the place.
You are a woman who can build it yourself.
You were born to build

Oh my gosh Tyger. It's amazing that you had the nerves to do that, I wouldn't be able to just approach a stranger like that.

Great to hear she's doing better, its amazing how much of a difference your help made to her

See, if more people experienced things themselves; judging and bullying wouldn't be as frequent!
It's sad that people have to actually be affected by something such as self harm just to be understanding of others who are struggling.
The world needs more people like you! What you did was amazing and will most definitely not be forgotten by her. I love reading stuff like this because it's usually people talking about how someone has upset them over their mistakes.
Reminds you that not everybody out there is an ignorant, judgemental arsehole!

Expose yourself to your deepest fear; after that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free.
