Default Should I go back?

I was in counselling for about a month last year, and the one I went to was, erm, the worst counselor ever. She didn't know what she was doing. Our area has two counselors. I was wondering, should I go back to her? Or should I go to this other one? Or should I just stay away? If you have seen my other posts, then you know I'm a cutter, I see my school counselor (who can't do much) a lot, and I kind of seem depressed (for the past three weeks, it's been really weird.) My parents don't know I'm considering it again...

It's probably not a good idea to be chewing on a toothpick if you're talking to the president, because what if he tells a funny joke and you laugh so hard you spit the toothpick out and it hits him in the face or something.

I would suggest trying the other counsellor if you feel that you want to try again. Counsellors are there to help you and it is important that you find someone who you get along with and can trust.

Also, it might help to have a bit of a think beforehand about what you want to achieve from the counselling. That way you can have a discussion early on with the counsellor abotu your goals and what you want to work towards so they can help you more effectively.

I really hope that you can find someone who can help you!

You probably don't want to, but letting your parents know what's going on with you can allow them to help you more. If you really want to get help (and feel better), start reaching out in all directions. As for the first counselor, there's no need to go back if she's not a good fit for you; you really have to find a therapist that you like that you can stick with. Otherwise, you're just wasting your time.

I might also recommend scheduling an appointment with a psychiatrist if you've had issues with self-harm and/or depression. Mental illness is just as real as any other illness, so have it checked out by a medical doctor (a psychiatrist).

I don't read an entire thread before I respond; I try to answer the question quickly and concisely.

I'd suggest going to the other counselor as well. I had a counselor who really didn't know what he was doing as well. I got discharged from him but now I need counselling again i'm going to see another counselor. I've heard that to find someone who actually helps you they need to be someone right for you, and if you've already been to that guy once then you know that he's not and you should try another.

And this is how the tale begins.
Its your life, exist and wonder why.
When it only fails to work,
It only fails to work sometimes

Since the first one wasn't any good for you, there's really no point in going back. If you want to try again I'd suggest you to try the other one! (:

if you add me on msn or skype, then send me a vm or pm otherwise there's a risk that I won't accept you.

And please, don't even bother to think about adding me if you're just some horny guy -.-

ANOTHER councelor, maybe. My sister is seeing someone semi-weekly and honestly it does seem to be helping a bit.

you're right, school councelors can't do much - most of them don't have degrees in this shit to begin with. But they can be useful in directing you somewhere that can help.

God help the outcasts, the tattered, the torn. Seeking an answer to why they were born.
Winds of misfortune have blown them about. You made the outcasts, don't cast them out.
The poor and unlucky, the weak and the odd. I thought we all were the children of God.
