Default Competitive Swimmers and tight suits

I was coaching at a swim meet today and in the coaches and officials room some of the officials were talking about the swimming suit rules. The rules for HS say a suit shall cover the buttocks and breasts (for females) and buttocks (for males). USA Swimming has no rules and neither does NCAA. One of the officials she was at a meet and all the male officials on one end had to walk away from that end of the pool because a female swimmer who was counting for a team mate had a suit that was so tight it looked like a thong both in front and in back. From her description she could see everything except the girls actual vagina every time she bent over. I have never worn a suit that tight but I am wondering why anyone would want one that tight. To me it seems uncomfortable as hell to have it pulled that tight into my bits. Do other swimmers feel the same way as I do or do you like having it pulled that tight.

I agree with Stanley even though he posted in the girls section (I'm sure he didn't notice it was)
If the suit is too big and some of the fabric is flabbing around I might demand a greater effort to swim. Not wanted in a competition.

It could also be this girl has grown slightly since she bought this particular swimsuit and she is saving up for a new suit, cause she comes from a poor family. If the real answer is this, I feel bad if she was disqualified or something.

Or it could be she is just very confident about her body and want's some attention.

I'm a swimmer, and Ya if a swimsuit is to small...thus to tight and not enough coverage, for either boy or girl, the judge's will have a problem. I mean if it's not appropriate then you will get disqualified. But yes generally speaking a tight fitting suit is faster through the water. Like Natacha said above.

l was on the swim team at school and yeah, the swimsuits were revealing and tight.
Like others have said though, it's about resistance and how fast you are through the water so the less you're wearing and the tighter it fits works to your advantage.
Being in a team atmosphere and focused on winning meant l wasn't so conscious about the modesty aspect of it but it could easily be an issue for some people.

Too "baggy" suits isn't very comfortable, and neither is a suit that's too tight. Mine is fitting but comfortable, but of course after a dip in the water, cameltoes and such is inevitable as the suit sticks to the body when wet. Nothing a subtle tug can't fix, though.

You know that a movie is bad when one or more actors apologise for participating in it.

Baggy can cause drag like a parachute, especially if open at the boobs
It was probably one like this I take it?

A lot of swimmers don’t like any restriction of movement of their legs so don’t want anything touching the top of their thighs

I've worn something like that though it wasn't cut so high over my hips and it covered a lot more of my bum.

Yah you know I could see myself doing the same. Or at the least trying it on in the store dressing room and never buying it.
