Am i the only person who feels getting a manual license is pointless?

There old cars and maual is outdated when all the cars are switching to automatic.

Someone try and convince me why i should get a manual

At one point something may happen so you'll need a car immediately, and your own is unavailable. Would suck if a manual one was the only option, and you don't know how to drive it.

Give me pizza covered in pineapple. Give me burgers loaded with pickles. Give me a steak burned to rubber and drowned in ketchup. I'll eat it all and sing hallelujah. But I'm begging you. Please don't serve me tuna. I'm a human being, not a cat.

It’s also about preference and what you’re looking for in a car

It’s worth learning in a manual, learning to drive an automatic after learning manual is soo much easier than the other way around. And as Anita mentioned, there may be an emergency (hopefully not) where your car may break down or crash and you need a cheap runaround for the time being - most if not all older cars are manual.

There may be exceptional circumstances where it may be better for you to learn automatic - say you may not be able to drive a manual for medical reasons. A coworker of mine has dwarfism and would find it impossible to drive a manual as a result of that. Otherwise it just seems so much more beneficial in the long run to learn manually first.

How come you feel so negatively about manual licenses?

Manual because then you can drive both. If you only learn automatic you have less cars to choose from. Also manual is more common here in Europe (if you're in Europe) and cheaper i think.

I agree with everyone when they say learning to drive a manual first makes learning an automatic so much easier. I have always been taught that manuals are better for gas mileage than automatics. My next car is going to be a manual.
