Default How do YOU cope with anxiety?

And do you have specific triggers?

My triggers are fuckin endless lmao
I hate it

Here are a few of the major ones:

-Nighttime
-Being alone for too long
-Driving
-Being in crowded areas
-Dealing with someone who is antagonistic
-Work
-Major financial responsibility/hardships
-Stress


How I deal with each of these situations varies- for instance, I smoke. (Horrible coping mechanism, don't)

I generally try to talk to someone, do something soothing (watch funny things, read a lighthearted book, listen to upbeat music, use lavender oil, drink water, meditation, etc), or write about why something is bothering me.

How about you guys? I'm curious to know.

some of what makes me anxious:
- body contact (especially by strangers, but also by others when i don't know about it/see it coming)
- crowds, especially ones i can't get out of when i want to (buses or other forms of public transport, but not only)
- public speaking (even with crowds of only 10)
- mirrors (less the mirror itself but my - ugh, especially undressed - reflection in it; aka body issues)
- being alone (gives me time to overthink something)
- dentist
- germs and being sick
- twice a year physicals
- first days of school after a break
- school days without a friend (when out sick, for example)
- thinking about most of these (aka right now, so i better stop listing things)

i have breathing exercises for when i am in a stressful situation, like for example when i have to do a presentation at school or when i am in a crowded space. for more general anxieties, by that i mean not situation induced (like my body issues), i take relaxing baths and trying to think about good things, or even just listen to music i like. i also talk to my therapist or my dad or other family members, but they also help me through stressful situations, like a bus ride (when i do that in the first place). i also wash my hands a lot of times, and carry as well as use those small bottles of hand sanitizers regularly, because unclean hands (or me perceiving them as such) are bad too
when it goes to a point of panic attack, i like being held, even though i do have issues with body contact. but in that moment, somebody gently holding me and calmly talking to me, and breathing slowly is relaxing

posting that list also kind of made me anxious, because people i know and like (on here, but if somebody i knew offline found it) might (start to) think badly of me or - just as bad - pity me

I cope with anxiety by drawing and coloring in those adult themed coloring books.

My triggers pretty much dark places especially when I am alone.

literally depends on the day and whatever my body feels like having panic attacks about - sometimes there isn’t even a tirigger at all, my body just feels like spicing things up a bit.

here are some of my main ones, though:
- not getting enough sleep
- feeling ill/sick for any reason
- any sort of insect irregardless of their distance away from me and whether there’s any physical barriers between me and them
- public speaking, even if it’s just talking to a group of friends or my family
- strangers
- physical contact with pretty much anyone except 3-4 people (even family members)
- school and work
- stress and deadlines
- being spoken to by an authority figure

dealing with it? idk. generally i like to lay in bed with the lights off playing games on my xbox or phone, and just sort of disconnect from reality for a bit. however life doesn’t really stop so it’s difficult to source this time without being stressed about deadlines and everything else.
