Question Two month rule.

Is it worth giving some thought to the 2 month rule.
I think it has advantages and disadvantages.
There have been quite a few threads in 101 lately which have been bumped after years.
I guess there might be some confusion about what is allowed as i poster was surprised that he shouldn't have done when he was told and another said there was definitely no such rule so carry on.
If its not allowed maybe they should be locked or the rule changed.
What do people tnink?

I think right now with the low postings
here in this forum and some threads
being brought up after say-six months
within reason and subject should not b
locked or put in the Puberty 101 forget
it file. It shows that still some new and
old members are interested in posting.
I would give some leeway but Im not the
head honcho here. For this forum to go
on some things should b changed a bit.

I think there are people who have been on this site waaaay long enough to know that bumping old threads just isn't allowed. Now whether that's a good rule or not, idk, but my point is, certain ppl know what they are doing is wrong, and they just go ahead and do it anyway.

The two month rule has been in place for years and years and years. It is there to promote new discussions, not to bring up old ones, and also chances are the OP would no longer need any more answers.

I have to be honest with you though, with everything that's going on with the site right now, bumped threads aren't really top of our priorities, and as @ska8er says there are low posts right now.

Thanks for this....and the quick reply.
Appreciated.
Just wondering though....... i am obviously not in the loop.
I know there are not many staff and low posts but it sounds like it is more than that. Anything that we need to know about.
Its just that if this site is going to close i would like to know in advance rather than waking up.one day and finding it gone.

Thanks for the response. Im surprised but then maybe not of what
is happening with this forum. IDK what really is the problem in the
background but of the times I tried accessing the site with different
browsers and getting the page mentioning that this domain is for sale
I take it that no one after all these years is interested in keeping the
forum active. IDK if this is the problem and it could be other reasons
but its sad to see people jumping ship as it seems to sink. I hope
this is not the case. Its been good to me as well as others.

I agree to an extent but if someone is interested in some thread
and wants to make a comment on it even tho it is way beyond the
expired time period it should be honored. Yes many of us old timers
know of the rules-I think we do anyway-I think it is the newer members
or those that don't post often. If the threads r common sense ones and
not stupid surveys or colored jockstraps Id let it pass but Im not the boss
and rules ARE rules.

Nothing that you need to know about other than what has already been discussed in the recent VTHQ/suggestions threads. I'm being as open as I can with you all here.

Have to say I've never got that message about the domain up for sale. I believe that Mike still pays for the site. I'm certain that he wouldn't just let the site go completely. I'm certainly up for keeping the site active within my powers.

I personally have mixed feelings on the 2-month rule. There are posts I’ve read that I intend to respond thoughtfully and richly toward, but writing those takes time which sometimes runs out after 2 months, and it’s clear I have information nobody else had yet suggested to the discussion.

Once a topic is started, the OP has the most control, but those who participate or even just read the discussion, can gain valuable knowledge from the conversation flow, and back and forth discussion. That’s how locking threads hurts the community too.

I propose that it be increased to 4 months, given that the longstanding rule existed in the context of a busy VT online culture. Revert it back to 2-months once the issues resolve, especially if the spirit of the rule was to foster new discussions.
