Default Add a new rule? We shouldn't have to...

Ok, I talked with a person who keeps bringing back old topics, and he said he'll stop when he sees the rule. I quoted the moderator, and he said it doesn't make an sence. Can you please put a rule somewhere on this site stating that we can't post in a topic of a certain age? I know it's 2 months in the puberty forum, but one guy keeps doing it. I don't think that we should have to tell anyone except once. When a moderator says something, that should be the end of it. Can we fix this? O.o

O.o Ok, a moderator looks after the forum, a specific forum or set of forums, and it's their job to look over that forum. They made a rule (which isn't listed) to not post in topics more than 2 months old. If a moderator says that you can not post in topics more than 2 months old, you should listen to them, or the offences will be contantly recorded and result in a ban.

A Global Moderator (which has the power to ban, regular moderators can not) locks a topic that's 2 months old, it should set an example that old topics will get locked. A moderators job is to look over the forum, but it would be MUCH easier if the forum members didn't constantly make problems for them to solve. So, I belive that you should make things more easier on moderators. Does that make cense? If it doesn't to you, please tell me how it doesn't

i didnt know it was two months. just when a thread was dead enough. like bringing back topics that are even a month old can sometimes be a tad bit irritating. but you see if you introduce a rule, then if people break it, wat do you do punish them? getting a bit extreme. i think the whole not bringing back old topics is something you just learn, a bit of forum etiquette, over the time.

I wasn't trying to introduce a rule, hence the "We shouldn't have to..." in the topic name I think that forum etiquette is something learned. Just like a couple of people, I was a little ass in the forums 'till I learned to be nicer. That's etiquette, something that you learn with experience. It think that it should be influenced (which it is) about bringing back old topics.

i know you were not trying to introduce a rule rather have the point highlighted somewhere. but honestly how many people read the rules and all that jazz, cause i know when i join things i dont read any rules, just more learn along the way.

its only really new members as well who bring back old topics, which is ok really cause they're only new. plus i think you learn better by experience, so if you bring back an old topic and people dont like it, your not going to do it again.

EVERY new member does this
they just got here they get curious they go back a few pages see something and post in it
its not hurting anyone
and once they've been here awhile they catch the topics while there still new and dont need to wait till its old to post

its like a phase everybody goes through
2 years ago I did it allot

it'll pass guys
its not a big deal
personally I think we have enough rules

Yes, I agree. I think this should just be understood as a guideline (we might add it as one later if it becomes a sugnificant problem). Guidelines are under the rules, however, some of them can change for some situations. It's OK if a member does it every now and then, but if it happens often (at least one thread a day), then that's more like causing a disturbance and a moderator might ask them to stop doing that. If that's the case, and the member continues to do it, it can be taken as public display of contempt.
